It is always rewarding to see a long-stalled project finally completed and brought out into the light of day. Such is the story behind this 1960 Chevrolet Impala Pro-Touring. The level of attention lavished on this classic is impressive, with no aspect escaping the current owner’s scrutiny. From its mighty V8 to its custom paint and stunning interior, it is a car that is guaranteed to turn heads wherever it goes. Its next journey could be to a new home, with the owner listing the Impala exclusively with us at Barn Finds. You could slip behind the wheel of this turnkey classic and drive it home for $64,900.

As was common during the era, Chevrolet’s Second Generation Impala range enjoyed a brief two-year production period. Cars graced showroom floors in 1959 and 1960, with our feature car rolling off the line during the second year. The current owner discovered it as an unfinished project, comprising a painted body and boxes of parts. It had been ignored by its previous owner for approximately a decade, but the current owner knew that it deserved to find its rightful place on our roads. The previous owner had massaged the rust-free body before applying a stunning combination of Deep Pearlescent White Metallic and Gray Metallic. The wide-angle shots don’t do the colors justice, and it is worth scrolling through the image gallery below this article to see how stunning these shades are. The seller admits that a close inspection will reveal a few minor imperfections, but if considered purely as a high-end driver, this Impala should still draw crowds at a Cars & Coffee. The only other flaw worth mentioning is the cracked windshield. It is serviceable, and the owner includes a replacement that the buyer could install at their leisure. The remaining tinted glass is excellent, and the sparkling chrome isn’t “lost” against the pale paint shade. Rounding out the exterior is a set of 17″ Cragar Street Pro wheels, wrapped in some pretty chunky rubber from the good folks at BF Goodrich.

This Impala is far more than a pretty face, featuring a drivetrain befitting a car of this type. The rebuilt 355ci small-block V8 has only clocked around 5,000 miles since the project’s completion, and it is dripping with some pretty desirable hardware. It inhales deeply through a Summit four-barrel aluminum intake and a FiTech fuel injection system. The spent gases exit via Hedman headers and a 3″ side-exit dual exhaust, with the MSD ignition supplying a fat spark to get the combustion process moving. Keeping the engine cool are a Stewart aluminum water pump, a Griffin aluminum radiator, and dual Spal electric fans. The V8 is estimated to produce over 400hp, which feeds to a Ford 9″ rear end via a Borg-Warner five-speed manual transmission fitted with an SFI scatter shield and a solid driveshaft. However, that isn’t the end of the mechanical story, with the Impala equipped with a complete Wilwood electric power four-wheel disc brake setup, power steering, and Global West five-link rear suspension. The beautiful range of polished aluminum cosmetic enhancements ensures that the engine bay presents superbly, and it doesn’t flatter to deceive. Turning the key engages the electric fuel pump, while a further twist is all that is required for this small-block to effortlessly roar into life. It runs beautifully, with the seller stating that the driving experience is closer to a new vehicle than one that left the factory sixty-five years ago. Therefore, flying in and driving this Impala home is a realistic expectation for the new owner.

The positive vibes continue inside this Impala, with its interior oozing class. Black and White houndstooth cloth and vinyl cover the upholstered surfaces, with the carpet and exposed steel in Black. There is the usual level of chrome and bright trim that was common in many cars from this era, and it is in exceptional condition. The fact that this gem has only clocked around 5,000 miles since the build ended means that there has been no chance for it to develop wear or other issues. If the exterior makes a positive impression, the interior lifts it to a higher level. It doesn’t just look wonderful, because with a Vintage Air A/C system, power windows, and a tilt wheel, any journey would feel like a special occasion.

Custom builds can be surprisingly easy, but well-executed ones require an eye for detail if they are to stand apart from the pack. This 1960 Chevrolet Impala achieves that goal, combining old-school charm with modern touches that should provide a user-friendly ownership experience. The fact that its few paint imperfections are undetectable from five feet away means that it can be considered a high-end driver. Installing the new windshield is the final piece of the puzzle, opening a world of classic motoring pleasure to one lucky enthusiast. Could that person be you?

One of the best executed Impalas ever! Love the wheels/tires and stance. A beautiful car that can’t really be improved upon. I don’t think you touch the build on this for the asking price.

Agree with Jay E. That’s a beautiful execution you would be hard pressed to duplicate for the ask.

I find just one small negative with this thing. 64K and the owner doesn’t have time to replace a cracked windshield? Seems odd to me.

Oh my goodness.. that is the most gorgeous Impala I’ve ever seen. It’d be very hard to keep from putting my foot to the floorboard at least once if I got behind the wheel though just to see what it would do. Holy Moly.
