The 1969 Oldsmobile 442 remains one of the standout names from the muscle car era, and this example, listed as a Barn Finds Exclusive, offers something especially appealing: a documented, numbers-matching car with Canadian roots and a solid foundation already in place.

Located in Cayuga, Ontario, this 442 is described as a numbers-matching example built in Oshawa, Canada, with documentation that includes its protecto-plate. The car was originally sold in Calgary, Alberta, adding to its traceable history and giving it a clear story from new to present day. The seller is asking $22,500 Canadian and is open to hearing offers.

Power comes from the factory 400 cubic-inch V8, paired with a THM 400 three-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes that the car runs excellently and that the choke functions properly on cold starts, suggesting it can be started and enjoyed while plans for further work are considered.

The color combination is another highlight. This 442 is finished in Meadow Green with a dark green vinyl roof, paired with a parchment interior featuring bucket seats and a center console. That combination reflects the kind of factory styling choices that defined the late 1960s and helps set this car apart from more common color schemes.

The seller notes that several important updates have already been completed. These include a new windshield, new exhaust, a rechromed front bumper, a new front grille, and T3 headlights. The car also rides on factory 14-inch wheels with new tires installed, and an additional set of 15-inch wheels with caps and rings is included with the sale.

While the car is described as running well, the seller is upfront about it still needing some TLC. However, they also emphasize that they have collected everything needed to complete the car from top to bottom, and that those parts will go with the vehicle. That combination—a running, documented car with parts included—can make a big difference for someone looking to take a project to the next level.

The car is also noted as being a non-Posi example, which is an important detail for buyers who are particular about factory specifications. With its numbers-matching drivetrain, documented Canadian history, and included parts, this 1969 Oldsmobile 442 offers a strong starting point for someone looking to complete a classic muscle car the right way.

Love seeing 442s out on the road. 👍 😎
Or at least out of the garage. Sheesh, pull it into the sunlight, already.
$16,300 USD is pretty fair.
Decent looking car. Hope tot finds a good home.
Posi, or limited slip was not as common as people have come to think. For your bread and butter muscle car it was pretty rare, most were ordered for stock (inventory) by dealers and that box was left unchecked. Look at Marti Reports, the majority of 428 CJ cars came with open differentials, that’s the case with most makes, unless it was part of a performance package. It’s an easy addition for new owners if they want it, the argument that its addition takes away from a cars “originality” is lazy, there is no way to tell by looking if it has been added.

I never understood the craziness around originality either. If the car was originally a strip out how does it hurt to add some modern conveniences to make it more livable, assuming you’re going to actually drive it and not trailer everywhere .
Nice Olds here hopes it finds a good home.
Going by the photos seams like a good price need a closer inspection for real rust and rot damage ..But overall looks clean
My fear for this one is that once you start peeling back that body work onion, you’re going to find plenty of metal work needed and many hours of entertainment for your favorite body man. I still think it’s worth digging in to deeper. Great color and the 442s are really nice cars!
Should be a Chevy 12 bolt rear, lots of options with that.
Really decent price.
The rear will not be a chevy rear…it would be an Olds 12 Bolt which is not the same as a chevy 12 bolt. Easily upgraded with a Posi unit…You need it with that torquey 400…
Canadian built 442’s in ’68 and ’69 came with Chevy rear ends.
only way there would be a chevy 12 bolt is if somebody put it there. olds had their own 12 bolt “O” type. looks to be original car needing a refresh. Canada car from new so its documented. worth putting money into for sure. much better than most of the Mopar rot buckets we see.
See my response to Turbotato.
Nope. Canada built 69’s came with Chevy rear ends.
This car will have a ton of cancer. Bubbles are everywhere.
Most likely true but he includes body panels for the worst areas.
That new grill on this car looks to be a standard cutlass grill not the scalloped 442 grill
Same color and interior as the cutlass s convertible I had in college best car I ever owned wish I was in a position to be able to buy this one!
Yep, it’s too bad the “new grille” mentioned aren’t 2 of the style grilles that belong there.
The grille is the correct 442 only grille. I also had a 69 442 meadow green convert, white top and interior. It was the first in a long string of 65-72 442’s and Cutlass’s over the years. Nice to see a front bumper that isn’t bent from the use of tow slings back in the day. Only good tow drivers used wooden block and other spacers to prevent the bends. The 68-72’s are very susceptible to getting bent…
Yes please. Needs work, but a real deal Olds 442!!
Cool car!!
Not a bad start to a project. I had a Glade Green hardtop, bench seat car back in HS. I miss My Shrew. HHHHMMMM…. Thinking…….
Sort of worth it. Needs a complete restoration. Gotta figure another what? 20-30k?
ha……………sorry, no way. Would that be parts only? All labor by owner?
Swiss cheese is waiting for the person that strips the paint.
Canadian car.
Bubbles all over.
This is a good deal. Nice Olds. Needs some work, but seems an honest sale with what’s included. Shouldn’t last.
