Bored? Here is a blank canvas that will keep you busy for some time. We appreciate Jamie bringing this 1972 Chevrolet Nova to our attention. The car is located in Sykesville, Maryland and can be seen here on eBay. With 6 days left in the auction, the car has a Buy It Now Price of $9,500. Now, I am not a Nova aficionado but that sounds pretty steep for a car in pieces with no engine.
According to the seller, this is a great project with a clean title and includes almost all the parts to complete the car except for an engine and transmission. The floors and rear panel need to be replaced but the car comes with an SS hood, fenders, 12 bolt rear posi, Crager SS wheels, grill, interior and lots of small parts. The seller has a 396 and a 454 block that can be purchased separately.
There is not a lot mentioned about things like the cooling system, electrical system, brakes, and fuel system. The car does come with all the glass except the front windshield which can be sourced pretty easily. The car is listed as a 4 speed but I am uncertain from the listing if it includes a transmission.
The VIN codes out to be 2-door Nova that was originally equipped with a 250 cubic inch straight 6 cylinder engine. The Nova was built at the GM Willow Run, Michigan Plant. Your building your own car, if you decide to go with anything other than a 350 cubic inch V8 engine which was the biggest engine that could be ordered in a 1972 Nova. Like I said, I am not a Nova expert. So what is this car worth in today’s market.
I was gonna hammer the seller for the lousy pics, but he offers to take everything out for viewing. Would still be good to see if you might be interested. Get the guy to throw the mill in. Think there’s 9500 in parts there?? Good luck. Nobody said this would be easy. I’d look at it and make an off, difficult to see if you are far away.

It’s overpriced for a disassembled project with an indeterminate amount of rust that has passed through multiple hands. On top of the rust, who knows what parts are missing. Most of the parts included aren’t particularly valuable. The “SS” hood is nothing more than a generic Nova hood with 67 Camaro hood louvers, with patience 454 short blocks can be found for $200-300, the 5.13 gears are unusable for a street car.
Better cars are out there for the money, it would be wise to keep looking until one pops up.

As I said the other day in my comment on the 73 Apollo (for $6500 mind you)….this car proves the point….Novas are over priced!

My first one was a 68 with a 6 cylinder. Straight rust free white with blue interior. Paid $300 for it. Ah, the good old days.
My guess this is a jigsaw puzzle with a lot of missing pieces!
I avoid these disassembled projects at all cost. Guy watches overhaulin or gas monkey garage. Destroys a car by tearing it down like his favorite show. Then it’s over. Big pile of parts. Guy figures out he doesn’t have a clue. Lets sell our shell for barret jackson money. I’m just over it. At least when it was a complete 6cylinder it was still a car. Sorry, in a complaining mood. I’m just saying that maybe jumping straight into the deep end of the pool when ya can’t swim is not best plan.
If reasonably priced (certainly not this one) sometimes you can get an absolute steal. Guys typically, as you mention, get in way over their heads quickly. IF, and that is a big if, you know or have previous in-depth knowledge of the particular model, and the owner took the time to bag and tag, and bought a ton of new parts, it can be an absolute steal.
Maybe there’s something wrong with my eyes but instead of canvas I’m seeing scrap metal.

I love the paint can and green tarp trying to cover the fact that it’s rusted to he// and back from all the debris below windshield. Another CL project that’s been had by many,and each has a souvenir hanging on the wall from an old nova they owned😁
Wa you couch potatoes lets bad mouth the nova someone with some talent will turn it back in to a nice driver looks like most of the parts are there, install a small block and have fun……….
A real suckers deal!! People need to get a grip on what there trying to sell!! This is something that should be made into soup cans!!! There is also really nothing better than getting multiple pieces of glass shipped!!!
