Blank Canvas Build: 1993 Chevrolet Blazer 2-Door Project

Two-door SUVs from the ’90s have taken on a cult following, and Chevrolet’s 1500 Blazer sits near the top of that list. This 1993 Chevy Blazer, listed here on craigslist, located in near Tacoma, WA, isn’t a turn-key driver, but for the right enthusiast, it could be the start of a very cool project. Thanks for the tip Curvette!

The seller makes it clear right away: there’s no motor or transmission under the hood. What you’re getting here is a solid shell with the bones in place to create a one-of-a-kind build. Showing just under 166,000 miles, the Chevy wears its age with faded paint and cosmetic wear throughout, but importantly, the photos suggest there’s no major rust or structural damage to worry about. That alone makes it a worthy candidate for someone who wants to dive into a full rebuild.

According to the ad, the truck has already been updated from its original 1993 spec to wear 1997-style front-end sheet metal. It still retains its four-wheel-drive setup, which opens the door for plenty of drivetrain choices. Whether you want to drop in another small-block V8, go the LS-swap route, or even do something wilder, the platform is ready to accommodate. The truck rides on a set of 17-inch wheels and tires, giving it a modern stance, and the seller notes that no wires have been cut—always a relief when starting from a blank-slate project.

Inside, details aren’t given, beyond what you can see in the pictures, but with the rest of the Chevy complete and holding a clean title, the path forward is wide open. The popularity of two-door SUVs has only grown in recent years, with enthusiasts turning them into off-road rigs, lowered street machines, or even factory-correct restorations. This one already comes with keys and title in hand, so the paperwork side of things won’t slow down progress.

Of course, a project like this requires time, money, and vision, but that’s what draws many buyers to vehicles like this. You aren’t paying for a finished SUV, you’re investing in the chance to make it exactly what you want, from the drivetrain all the way down to the paint color.

Would you bring this Chevy back to stock form, or turn it into a custom off-road bruiser?

For $1499 you could part it out and make enough to fund another project or turn this into whatever you want. I’d drop in a crate 350 or 383 and auto trans, fix any mechanics required and spray some paint.

For the asking price, $1,499 you go look at it, if the frame isn’t rusted out or broken into multiple pieces, buy it and figure out a game plan later. These 2dr Tahoes are thin on the ground and highly sought after, a drivetrain is easy to find and cheap. There isn’t much downside to this one.

I live in the land of 4X4s. Until the mid to late ’90s, the largest Jeep dealer was here and according to Toyota 80% of all FJ40s imported up until the late ’70s were sold within a 250 mile radius of here. These are hugely sought after in this area. If my current tow rig wasn’t down in need of a new fuel pump. I would already be on my way to snag this. Just to flip for a major profit. I saw a 2wd (never seen in these parts) that had a minor lowering conversion and was mildly customized. I was very impressed. It was beautiful! And very different.
