Easily some of the fuzziest, blurriest photos in Barn Finds history, I normally don’t take listings with photos this bad since I make a living trying to provide the best photos I can, but I couldn’t pass up this 1979 Buick Regal since I like these cars so much. This also looks like a really, really nice example. It’s posted here on craigslist in Delta, Colorado, and the seller is asking $5,800. Here is the original listing, and thanks to Rocco B. for the tip!

Blurry and pixelated or not, this car looks like a jewel to me, at least cosmetically. It’s hard enough to tell the exact cosmetic condition of a vehicle online with perfect photos, but trying to determine the functioning condition of a vehicle is impossible by using just photos. A personal visit is always the best way. A test drive, starting, stopping, driving, trying every knob, button, and feature. Or, for $5,800, just take a gamble and take the seller’s word that this car is in “near-perfect condition.” It sure looks like it is to me, even with blurry photos.

The last 1979 Buick Regal we saw here on Barn Finds was a bit over a year ago, and it racked up a mind-blowing three comments!!!!! Clearly, this isn’t a dusty Hemi Cuda, and there isn’t much interest in these cars. Or maybe it’s my research and writing, or my mustache. I never thought of that, dang. Whatever the reason, three comments isn’t far from as low of an interest point as it gets. I don’t get it, I think these are nice cars, in a nice size, a two-door, with a relatively efficient V6 engine.

The dash cover doesn’t inspire confidence; hopefully, it’s on there to protect a perfect dash, just as I hope the steering wheel cover is there to protect a perfect original steering wheel. We don’t know either of those answers, but they do say “seat and dash sun protection,” so I’m guessing at least the dash is in nice shape. I see front seat covers in a couple of the photos, and the cloth seats without the covers sure look nice to me, both front and rear.

Buick made the second-generation Regal for model years 1978 through 1987, and this one is powered by a Buick 3,8-liter OHV V6, which was rated at 115 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque when new. Backed by a Turbo-Hydramatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels, the seller says this is a two-owner car that has always been garaged, it has 58,000 miles, it drives nicely, and the AC has been converted to R-134a. Are any of you fans of this era of Buick’s two-door Regal or is it just me?

Wow. Haven’t seen a….BEIGE…car in years.
That’s a LOT of BEIGE for a moderate outlay. But worth a look; suggest you bring the child you want to give this to as a starter car, as they may not be a fan of…BEIGE…
Ha! It’s pretty dang… BEIGE for sure! Buick went out on a limb and referred to this color as (are you sitting down?): “Tan.” I know! I like Beige much better. It looks at least as nice or nicer than the blue one we saw a year ago for $8,500.
We used to call that color hear aide beige.
Beats the silver/black/white options we have today!
This fortunate car is one of the very few to survive (to almost 50 years) and you think it’s a good idea to hand the keys over to a kid?
Scotty….. I just HAD to be comment number 3 to at least tie the other Regal!! This looks like ( despite the fuzzy photos because someone probably rubbed their thumb on the lens ( ask me how I know) it looks incredibly clean inside, outside and under the hood. I don’t think I’d be too put of line calling this one a time capsule. My elderly neighbors across the street from where I grew up had a Regal 4 door this color, with the V6. ( they traded their ’78 Delta 88 that had a 350 in it, she said she missed the pep from her Olds.) But the 3.8 will get you there, and more importantly, home reliably. I like that it doesn’t have a vinyl top, one less place for rust to rear its ugly head. Really nice Scotty!! Now c’mon comment number 4!!!
‘Time capsule’ is spot-on! That interior looks like it just left the showroom! It’d be a good off-to-college car for someone who is about to do just that.
I’ve owned three ’79 Regals, one ’78 and one ’80. Love this generation. Why? Memories! I am going to ‘geek out’ for a moment. Please, bear with me…
This is the standard Custom trim, ordered with the wide stainless rocker panel option and including the the top of the door molding (standard on the Limited), plus the color keyed body side molding, possible door edge guards (pics so blurry). Power steering and brakes were still options, as was the A/C and color keyed seat belts (black are standard). I also noticed an aftermarket AM/FM 8 track without push buttons. The wire wheel covers are the non locking GM Accessory versions (black decal with ‘General Motors’ in the center – you could get them in 14″ and 15″). All Regal Custom and Limiteds came with dual chrome manual adjustment outside mirrors. This one has an optional chrome remote, so the factory upgraded the right side to match. I think this was NOT sold in CA, but a CA adjacent state, hence the CA emissions.
No tilt, cruise, or inside power options to speak about here.
If you search ’79 Regal for sale’, a tan one should show up in the results without the wide moldings, standard full wheel covers and manual adjust mirrors for reference. I would share a link, but then my comment would get flagged as a non member doing as such.

Buick elegance, Hydramatic, reliable and torquey 3.8L. Beautiful.
I had this car’s twin. Drove it over 70k miles in 3 years. I put a CB and a fuzz buster in mine. My handle was Front Runner
These were everywhere back in the day. This one looks just like the one a young woman had that rented a floor in the house next door to my parents house. I remember hers had the 305 V8 though, with 5.0 litre badges on the side. Far less common than the V6 cars.
This is a nice example and I hope its new owner keeps it as-is.
This car was the beginning of the POS era of accountant-designed American iron. With 58,000 miles, it is shocking that the thing still runs and all the trim and knobs and dials are still on it. They usually needed head gaskets and seals by then.
This had to be owned by a non-smoking, 95 pound grandma who went to church and the store every week and that’s it.
nice car but that 3.8 is a slug. car is clean enough you could do a v8 swap and have a sweet ride with a bit of step and not hurt the value if done correctly
I like :)
I just purchased a Regal Sport Coupe turbo version of this two months ago. White with white and red bucket/console interior, power windows and locks, cruise and T roof but no A/C. Car is from BC and paid less than the ask on this one. Mine has never seen salt Less than 90,000 kms. Love these!!!!!!!
