No Reserve 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible

Thanks to John DeLorean (and others at Pontiac), the GTO was brought to market in 1964. It was a mid-size muscle car based on the Tempest/LeMans. Sales records were quickly broken, and the car would account for nearly 97,000 units by its third year. With some styling updates in 1967, the car used a new 400 cubic inch V8 in three iterations to get the job done. This convertible is a real stunner and may only seen 51,000 miles thanks to some kid-glove handling. Located in Wilmington, North Carolina, this white-over-blue Pontiac is available here on eBay where the current ante is $28,400.

The GTO would get a redesign in 1968, so the changes were few in ’67 after a refresh in ’66. The most noticeable switch may have been the conversion from louver-covered taillights to four thin units on each side, along with sweet new Rally II wheels. Buyers no doubt liked the look and responded by purchasing more than 81,700 GTOs in 1967, of which 9,500 were convertibles like this one. Depending on carburetion, the new 400 V8 could produce either 265, 335, or 360 hp (the smaller output came with a 2-barrel carb for “fuel economy” – who buys a muscle car for that!?).

Not much of the history of this ’67 GOAT is provided, and no VIN is mentioned. It’s been fully inspected as is required by the State of North Carolina and there appear to be no flaws with the body, paint, interior, and mechanical bits. We don’t know which 400 is in play, but it’s paired with a TH-400 automatic transmission. A limited-slip differential is part of the mix.

The blue paint shines up nicely, complemented by the white drop-top which also looks great. And how about that parchment and black interior with bucket seats? Wow! What a delight this car must be for cruising to your favorite burger joint on a Saturday night! An aftermarket stereo is provided with the Best of the ’60s tunes that you can play loudly for all to hear!

Much better tail light treatment in 67 than 66, IMO.
But Russ the 51000 is the mileage not the cost! Oh well maybe not just yet.

$33,900 now. This is almost identical to my mother’s 3rd convertible (67 fire engine red LeMans with black interior and top, console, and a replacement 400cu after the 328 gave up the ghost) that she offered to me for free around 1980 because her mechanic said that the spring hangers were rusted and dangerous. I said no thanks and for the last 40+ years I’ve become a contortionist, kicking myself in the butt enough to have callouses back there. It’s also only 2 hours away from me, but it’s going to top $50K before it’s done. I actually like this white on blue better than Ma’s car. Never understood a black interior in a convertible. Oh well. Maybe in the next life.

I had one in my youth but not a ragtop, the motor grenaded so I put a 428 out of a grand prix in it and it was much faster

Then it was the rear control arm hangers that were rusted in my mother’s car.

Beautiful body lines for 66 and 67 i preferred 67 more because of taillights and front grill.Either way they are great cars.I owned many muscle cars but never a GTO.

Call me paranoid but I hate when a ZERO rating bidder with no other history has high bid on an item like this GTO… up to $35,100 now. Really nice car though.
