Bullock Beater: 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass S

1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass S

We have seen a few vehicles from the Lambrecht Auction resurface on the market, but this is the first one I’ve seen from the Bullock Auction. That’s understandable though because the cars from the later auction were all stored indoors and most were in decent condition. This particular Oldsmobile is claimed to have been taken in on trade-in all the way back in 1982 by the Bullock Chevrolet dealer. It then sat in a warehouse for over 30 years until it was sold at auction back in September. It wasn’t running at that time, so the new owner pulled it home and started the process of getting it back on the road. They replaced the fluids and went through the brakes making it a safe a reliable driver. Then they listed it here on eBay. From what I can tell, they paid $1,750 for it at the auction so it should be interesting to see if the work they did will add much value. Do you think it will?

Well, from the lack of comments, it would seem that I am the only one who found this Olds interesting. I’m excited to see what sort of profit it brings since the seller essentially rescued a barn find. In my experience you are usually lucky to break even when you take on a project like this, but you never know…

I was at that auction. There was a real mixed bag of cars and only about 10 percent of the hype as for the Lambrecht auction. The cars at Bullock were in far better shape, many of them project ready. They ran the gamut from a beautifully restored 1957 Chevy Cameo Carrier to a shark-nose supercharged 1939 Graham. That car sold for about $1,700. It will be interesting to see how many former Bullock cars start to show up for re-sale.
If any of you have some spare time, Google the Bullock dealership from Grant, Nebraska. There is a rich racing history that goes back to one family member who drove a 1919 Model T to Colorado just so he could race in the Pike’s Peak Hill Climb. And, he won his class!
      Motor on.

Looks like they took care of the essentials. Now to work on the body, and interior. It could be a reasonable driver yet.

Jesse, I grew up owning chevelles, but as the prices for those are going up and up all the time, I find myself drawn to these cars now; keep them coming!
