California Stepside: 1970 Chevrolet C-10 Project

Pickup trucks with a stepside bed configuration are mostly a thing of the past, and it’s a shame because I think they look very nice. While it certainly needs some buttoning up, this 1970 Chevrolet C-10 project that is available here on eBay will be a cool truck once it’s finished.

This example is available in Auburn, California. The seller purchased it from a friend who began fixing it. With that being said, the title is in said friend’s name.

While the truck has spent its entire life in California, it is fairly disassembled at the time of the sale. The truck’s body is straight, but there is some rust in the rockers that luckily has not spread to the floors. Items such as the front bumper and windshield are missing or need replacement, but the seller claims that the friend with the title may also have the bumper.

Additionally, the rear bumper is in the truck’s bed, and the passenger window glass needs installation into the new door that is on the truck.

The interior gets the good ol’ Mexican Blanket treatment, which likely means there are some rips and tears on the truck’s bench seat. This truck originally used a column shifter, but someone converted it to a Hurst floor shifter at some point.

Despite the truck’s outward appearance, it only has 74,080 miles, which the seller claims is an original figure. There is a V8 engine under the hood that does not smoke or have any noises, though the seller does not specify the engine’s size. The seller mentions that it has been four years since the truck was last driven, but it runs, moves, and supposedly has a good clutch. However, it will need brakes to be regularly driven, because the wheel cylinders were leaking from sitting too long.

The Buy it Now price for this truck is $4,950, though the seller is accepting other offers. Do you think this stepside Chevy would make a good project, or is there too much reassembly required?

Nice, decent project. A little scrubbin’, some paint and that’s a 12 – 14k truck when she’s done.

I used to go to Auburn to visit the Lovett’. He was a retired deputy sheriff who with his wife Beth were caretakers for adult mentally handicapped people. Nice little town in the foothills of Sierra Nevadas mountain range.
    God bless America
