Name That Car: Storage Unit Find

One of our favorite games is Name that Car, so when we saw this poorly photographed barn find we knew it would be a good challenger. Reader Jim S. tipped us off to it, so special thanks go out to him! We will run a follow-up post with the answer. Good luck everyone and let the guessing begin!

  1. Tim Kaczmarek

  17. Jimbosidecar

    I think it’s a Griffith 600 Coupé.

  19. Brian

Ummm… It’s hard to tell from the picture, is it a Datsun Z?

  20. 88R108

  21. jim voteary

  22. e55

  23. Rick Ostman

I’m leaning towards a Fiberfab Jamaican too. The right fender looks torn through the headlight bucket area, more than rusted away.

  24. paul

I am going with the Itermaccanica Torino group on this one.

  25. Robert J

    Great responses guys. I wanted to say what it was, but so many have already answered, so I just engaged my sleuthing skills and found the actual car pictured;

    • Jesse Mortensen Jesse Staff

Good work Robert, but you were supposed to let us announce it in the followup post!

  26. Horse Radish

    dusty purplish barn find thingy

  27. Koolpenguin

In storage for almost 40 years
    Front end damage.
Seems like kinda crazy money, but the seller does state:
“Clearly a collector’s item that will be worth more than $100k once restored.”
    Of course it will.

  28. Ed

    A Datson Z series

  29. Chuck

    Datsun 240Z…..

  30. Dolphin Member

I’m pretty sure this one will buff up nicely.

  31. Mitchell R Winans

    1969 intermeccanica italia

  32. Polarisky

My first impression was Datsun 240Z

  33. Brian

    Datsun Fairlady

  34. Roy Smalley

Yes, the front does look like a 240 Z, and the quarters like a Corvette. I have owned and restored a 67 Omega, for over 20 years. It is an unappreciated car by most and there are a few good reasons why. But, the car was hand crafted out of steel, over one of the strongest frames you will ever see. It is small and light. The down side is the amalgam of parts used to build the front end but that can be easily rectified today, and the “Kit” concern.

But it is a well built, strong great design car. Parts are hard to come by. We had to make bumpers for my car.

  35. Jellyjam

    Intermeccanica Italia

  36. Bob

    DatsunZ series 260?

  37. Mike

    Datsun 280Z

  38. Robert J

    …ummm, a Peugeot?

  39. Dennis J

    Ferrari 275 GTB4

  40. Jesse Mortensen Jesse Staff

Lots of good guesses guys! Here is our followup post with the answer:

  41. Dolphin Member

A way to tell this from a Z car is that on the Z car the hood opening goes all the way to the front of the body, while on this Italia there’s a hood opening that’s surrounded by metal all the way around.

  43. Sean Q

Change that to Bolwell , sorry :)

  44. Pat Bowens

It might be one of those beautiful Beetle chassis sportsters from Brazil.

  45. bradshaw from primer

    the very rare Marcos model

    …..Nieman Marcos!
