Cheap Projects? Assortment in Mississippi

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

If you had some spare time and live near Long Beach, Mississippi, you could check out a live auction. Nine cars of various makes and model years are being offered along with an assortment of other items as part of an estate sale. Once the bidding closes, everything must be gone quickly as the property itself is likely to be liquidated, too. A tip from HelenaNOLA, all of this can be found here on Estate Sales and most of the starting bids aren’t crazy money.

All the cars offered, look as though they haven’t run in a while, and some are more complete than others. For your observation are three Chevrolets, two Fords, and one each of a Mercedes-Benz, Pontiac, Suzuki, and Volkswagen.  Most of these vehicles will take quite a bit of effort to pull them from their perches. Add to this a jukebox, two motorcycles, tire balancer, air compressor, furniture, repairs manuals, trailer, piano, organ, tub, some miscellaneous junk, and you, too, could become the next American Picker!

1964 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

This vehicle was parked in the barn 15 years ago due to a knock in the air-cooled engine. The body doesn’t look bad and wears a coat of primer. One wheel is locked up, so you’ll need to bring a roller to get it moved. No title or keys with this one. Current bid: $2500.

1965 Ford Thunderbird Special Landau Edition

This may be the most interesting car in the mix. It’s a special edition model of which just 4,500 are said to have been built. Inside the barn for ages, time and Mother Nature have taken their toll. The tires are flat, and they will not roll. Plus rats and raccoons have made deposits in the interior, and there is rust in a variety of places. The title is long gone and the current bid is $2500.

1968 Ford Mustang

Some work has already been done or was about to be done on this car. It has a new gas tank installed and new interior components still in the box, although their condition is unknown after being subject to barn critters. The seller doesn’t know if the car rolls, but it still has its engine. With both a title and a key, the current bid is $2500.

Pair of 1970s Chevrolet El Caminos

Not sure what you could do with either of these pickups other than to see if any parts are salvageable. No titles or keys come with these and one of them is buried in the woods. $100 might take both of them home.

1984 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Strictly a parts car in its current form. The glass is good as are some of the body pieces. Currently sitting on a set of rims in the front, it, too, will take effort to get it out of the barn. But it does have both a title and a set of keys. Current bid: $300.

1989 Mercedes-Benz

The only European car in the mix and it looks less weather-worn than the others. It doesn’t run but does have a title and keys. $100 might take this one home, as well.

1992 Chevy Corvette

One of the more recent models in the collection, but also one of the worst in terms of condition. While it’s outside right now, it had to be dragged out because the wheels are stuck, and it will not roll. Not much is known about the ‘Vette, including the condition of the drivetrain. Current bid: $500 with title and keys!

1995 Suzuki Sidekick

Described as a parts car, this one doesn’t run and could be one of the cheapest acquisitions in the bunch. No title, but it does have a key and it can be had for as little as $100.

I wonder how many times the cars and other items have been under water?

Long Beach MS is right there on the Gulf, just west of the Gulfport/Biloxi area, an area regularly visited by hurricanes. It’s a nice area, I love it, I use to visit there a couple times a year on business, but the do have to deal with a lot of hurricanes and other storms.
