It’s always a bummer to see collector vehicles looking like they’ve become just another used car, but the upside is you can potentially grab a valuable vehicle for far less money than if it were preserved. This 1991 GMC Syclone is one such example, as it has clearly never been someone’s showpiece in their garage, and looks to have been driven hard and put away wet. The seller claims to have two of these rare, turbocharged pickups, with one listing as pending sale and the other listed here on craigslist for $9,500.
The truck has all the hallmarks of being owned by the wrong kind of owners, from the aftermarket exhausts to the tacky stickers letting passers-by know it’s turbocharged. The missing OEM wheel on the driver’s front corner, replaced with a junkyard steel wheel, is the proverbial icing on the cake. I’m sure the boost has been cranked up as well, all in the name of going fast and nothing else. No regards given for the fact that this is a genuine collector vehicle that deserves a far better fate than this. Oh, and don’t forget the fake cowl induction hood!
At least the interior isn’t an unmitigated disaster and looks to remain largely stock. The original buckets with red piping and corresponding door panels remain in place, but of course, an aftermarket steering wheel has been installed. Still, given the outside appearance, I was expecting far worst. The seller lists mileage as being 101,000, and this truck is supposedly the better of the two (cosmetically-speaking) that he had. He notes this example has an issue in the front suspension that sounds serious enough to warrant fixing before driving long distances.
The engine bay shows some level of “tweaking” with more than a few items appearing out of place or just unkempt. No word on any outstanding issues beyond the vague front suspension needs, but the seller does claim it runs “very good.” Given the Syclone’s location in Washington State, I’m guessing rust isn’t an issue as vehicles seem to survive at a surprisingly high rate out there. If the mechanical needs are simple and the rest of the work is limited to returning this collector truck to stock condition, than this seems like a reasonable project – but I have to believe there will be surprises.
I’m going out on a limb and saying that the left front “steelie” and the suspension issue are related.
Overpriced and just a beater …
This Cyclone looks like it got rocked like a Hurricane and twisted by a 🌪 tornado
Moving a along because if you put 10-15 more down you can get an all original low mileage
nice truck.
Here’s an average one still better

Sewer pipe intercooler delete intake… nice touch! lol
That sewer pipe was probably worth bout 20 or 30 horsepower lmao🤣👍..this poor truck is what we used to call been rawdogged..the noise in the front probably is because of that tall ass tire threw the gearing out of whack..I would probably be interested in it but not for the asking price..and for that reason I’M OUT
Shark tank reference taken.
I was thinking the driver might have nailed a pothole or something like that. Probably bent the original rim and damaged the suspension.
Absolutely agree, Jeff. The wrong owner. And for far, far too long. Even if I was looking for a truck like this, certainly wouldn’t pick this one. Not that it’s beyond help, just too many question marks.
No worries everyone. There are plenty of minty examples left. This is a turbo truck that has been used. At least from a few owners someone has had a hell of a lot of fun with it.
I would bet money there is a few Youtube vids on this truck being pounded on. My guess is someone in their late twenties has had it and ran it like they stole it.
Not sure what’s up with the asking price. Maybe they are fishing for an offer. I know. Offer to trade them an old Jeep. Maybe not. Regardless keep moving. Nothing to see…..or cry about. There are others much nicer.
I wonder what it smells like.
like dirty mullets!
Desirable pickup but all the evidence points to hard use and poor care by the owner. Priced too high for a beater. If I wanted a Syclone, I’d look for a better one. I’ve always passed up cars that were abused and neglected, there are too many better cars to be found if you look hard enough and have a little patience.
Did that say 9500.00. Cause I’m thinking 950.00
Post deleted, guess it sold.
