When car collections come up for sale, it’s always a blast to virtually walk through the backyards of these stewards of forgotten classics. This listing is based out in Canon City, New Mexico, where there’s still quite a bit up for grabs despite some vehicles already finding new homes. There are two Ford Sedan Deliveries; a ’47 Chevy coupe; a ’42 Buick Fastback; a ’47 Chevy Stylemaster; and numerous others. There are some later model vehicles as well, including a Chevy K5 Blazer and a 454-equipped four-door pickup truck. Find the whole collection here on craigslist with no prices listed.
Thanks to Barn Finds reader Gunter K. for the find. This is a sweet ’54 Nash Rambler Airflyte Custom Wagon, with its incredible slab-sides and windswept look, which had to have been revolutionary when it was new. Covering up the wheels at all four corners is something we haven’t seen since (at least not that I can recall) and even better, this one looks to be incredibly solid owing to its location in the dry American Southwest. The paint on most of these vehicles is almost certainly burnt off in many places, but that’s hardly a concern compared to having to deal with rust repair.
Now, that’s not to say everything here is rust-free. This sweet Chevy K5 Blazer may be an enormously popular collector’s item right now that is finding its way increasingly to the likes of Mecum and Barrett-Jackson auctions, but that doesn’t mean every example can be saved. Despite seeing rust in the lips of the fenders, this looks like a restorable truck, but it’s disappointing to see a truck from this part of the world still have some rust issues to sort out. Still, the good news is that it looks very complete, down to the removable hardtop, and I’d be happy to drive it with the tires re-inflated and just live with the rust for the time being.
This appears to be the “tin Woody” the seller references, and I’d peg it as a ’52 Chevrolet – does anyone else have a better guess than mine? This would be a sweet project done any number of ways, from a proper frame-off restoration to a rat rod with the heavy patina preserved. There are some very cool projects here, and whoever collected them definitely had an eye for the more desirable specimens that flew beneath the radar of the collector car scene. The location should help some buyers make decisions sight unseen knowing that rust won’t be a big issue, but some more details would likely still be appreciated, so give the seller a call if any of these catch your eye. Which one would you bring home?
