With the success Plymouth was experiencing with its low-cost Road Runner back in 1968, it didn’t take the folks at Dodge long to figure out they wanted a competitor, and a short time later the Super Bee was born. Based on the Coronet, the Super Bee ended up costing more than the base Road Runner corporate cousin, resulting in fewer sales than its Plymouth counterpart. That’s good news today, as they’re less common, with 15,506 produced for 1970 compared to more than 40,000 Road Runners made during this same year. Like many B-Body projects, this 1970 Dodge Super Bee here on eBay has some positives and negatives, so let’s check it out and see what’s up here. If you’re feeling this one, the car is in Riverside, California, with a buy-it-now price of $25,000, or you can make the seller an offer.
On the plus side, the Super Bee is pretty much complete, and the body appears to be in decent shape overall. The hood was cut years ago to put that fiberglass scoop on, so it’s probably best to find a replacement, that is unless you plan on keeping it intact. A new roof skin is also recommended by the seller, as some bondo is mentioned as being up there, but there’s no word on how much body filler is present in the rest of the panels.
No fender tag is here, but the owner says this was originally a 383 car with an automatic transmission. Both components are gone, and under the hood now is a 440, which is stated to have received a rebuild with few miles driven since. However, the Super Bee is also said to have been sitting for the last seven years, and it’s not presently running. No explanation is given as to why, but rats have chewed some of the wiring in the engine compartment, so it’s unknown if the problem is mechanical or electrical. There’s now a 4-speed manual transmission, but no information is provided regarding its condition.
The dash and front buckets seem to be in nice shape, with the back seat looking a bit warbled on top and the steering wheel missing the center emblem. Thankfully, we get to see a photo from inside with the seats removed, and although one small area has been patched, the seller says the metal down below is solid. There’s something a bit mysterious about this 1970 Dodge Super Bee, and it’s sort of hard to figure out the extent of work that will be needed. However, I certainly see potentially decent project material here, and no worries about keeping it numbers-matching either. What are your thoughts on this B-Body?
Looks like what we used to say, alot of mud…
Are there horses next to a pool in the background?
Yep. You don’t let your horses out to graze on the front yard once in a while?
The seller on eBay is actually Mr. Ed. Apparently, he has sold this car already; some buyers don’t horse around.
If it checks out 25k is a good deal
That’s extra horse power in case you need it since Rats ate the wires you need it
Item has been removed already.
Well, so much for commenting on how overpriced it was.

Did the horses sell with it?
