Launched in 1964, the Chevelle would be Chevrolet’s mid-size product for many years to come. Styling was refreshed in 1967, so the Chevelles could be identified from the year before by noticeable headlight and taillight changes. The Malibu was the upper-level series, of which 13,660 station wagons were built (and 85% had a V8 engine). That applies to the seller’s wagon which has been sitting a long time, though the body seems to have held up in the sun. But you’ll have to sort out why it doesn’t run before attempting to drive it.
More often than not when we see a ’67 Chevelle here on Barn Finds, it’s either an SS 396 or a Malibu Sport Coupe. A wagon is a refreshing find and it appears this one was once adjusted to squeeze a little muscle out of it. The old-school Cragar mag wheels are a clue and the 350 cubic inch V8 under the hood is another. The 350 was not introduced until 1968 (and only in the Camaro at first), so the original engine in this wagon was swapped at some point. An automatic transmission is present, so perhaps the 350 is paired with a 2-speed Powerglide
We’re not told any history of this wagon (and it may not be known). No VIN or cowl tag data is also imparted. The body looks fair for the age and the gold paint faded, but perhaps it will respond to some wax. The interior is matching in color and the back seat looks good while the front seat has a cover, suggesting its fabric is well worn.
The vehicle has been dormant has years and what it will take to get it running again is anyone’s guess. All four tires are bad, so they’ll have to be replaced as soon as you sort out the engine. We’re told it has 197,000 miles, so perhaps everything is plain tired. Only one bid has been cast at $5,000 and the seller indicates that may be all it takes to assume possession. The wagon is in Santa Cruz, California, and is available here on eBay.

Hey David. If you’d know anyone interested in the Pontiac version of this one, I have a ’64 Tempest Wagon same color Fawn Gold I brought from Ca. & registered currently there. I moved S/W Ohio. It needs restoration, the engine is clean original 326 2bbl with 2 spd a/t, runs & shifts great. I want a little more $ for mine though…..Gary C
Have always had a soft spot for the mid-60’s station wagons. My dad had four of them: 62 Chevy, 64 Chevy, 65 Plymouth, 68 Plymouth (my favorite). Toured the US in those boats. My brother and I always sat in the WAY BACK, facing backwards. Probably the most dangerous riding location in the car but…..
Those aren’t Crager SS wheels, more like Torque Thrust.
They are 200S wheels, from the same folks that bought us the Torque Thrust, American Racing Wheels. If it wasn’t 2600 miles away, it likely would be on my trailer.
My parents had a’66 Malibu wagon in sky blue with blue vinyl interior, only the 283 V8 but it was pretty peppy! Took my driver’s test in that vs my Mom’s ’64 T Bird! She didn’t trust me yet!🤣 It was a very reliable car but tjey traded it for a ’72 Country Squire with a third seat and a tow package. Great memories!
This would make a great project for someone wanting to get into a Chevelle at a lower cost. The metal looks outstanding.
