This is a tale of two Corvettes, apparently, with the 40th Anniversary edition in question seen in one photo shoved into a corner of a garage covered in dust. The lone other photo shows it looking far fresher, as it should be with only 26,000 miles on the clock. These aren’t much more than some cosmetic dress-up in terms of options, but they’re still harder to find than earlier special editions. Find it here on eBay with a $14K Buy-It-Now.
The 40th Anniversary editions featured unique ruby red paint along with matching tops and leather interiors. Special badges were also included. Production figures put it at just under 7,000 cars with the rarest variant being the handful of ZR1s ordered with the package. Power-wise, non-ZR1s retained the standard LT1 powerplant. The seller provides very few details other than the low mileage and noting that it’s been garaged all of its life, despite looking abandoned in the first photo.
Perhaps one of the more famous 40th Anniversary editions is the one that was ravaged by the sinkhole underneath the Corvette museum. That one garnered a lot of eyeballs purely for the destruction factor (everyone loves a tragedy) but the car on eBay is worth a look for the low mileage and relative scarcity. However, more details are certainly needed to give buyers the confidence they need considering the first photos indicates the Corvette didn’t receive much care in the time it was left standing.
If there’s some kind of contest going on for the least-motivated eBay listing of the year, this one is a solid top-50 contender, hurt by the presence of photos, but balanced out by the possibility that the photos may not even be of the same car, or the car in the listing.
Too little pictures, too little description, too much money for this one. Sorry but a car that’s not driven can be worse than too much. Too many potentially leaking, too many parts can age out from non-use (like weather stripping etc).
Being it’s an automatic, that’s not enough to get this price IMO.
Unless someone really wants it, don’t think it’s quite that good
Shortest… description… ever…
The 40th anniversary and the 35th anniversary are my favourite C4s… clean and classy.
1 bid @$12k…I would advise the seller to ‘off’ the reserve.
Not sold at $12101.01
I’d go as high as $12,101.03, but that just my two cents.
Hiss. Boo. Derisive catcalls.
Thankyouverymuch.
I’ll show myself the door…
