EXCLUSIVE: 1991 Jaguar XJS-12

Edger D’s Jaguar looks like it could be an exceptionally nice car! His father purchased this car brand new and it has been with the family ever since. It’s said to run and drive nicely and is a 10-foot car as is. The car is currently stored away for the winter and Edger can’t easily get to it to take photos. So, unfortunately, we don’t get a look at the interior or engine, but if you are in the Greenwich, New York area it would definitely be worth taking a closer look!

Asking Price: $8,500
Location: Greenwich, New York
Mileage: 81,000
Title Status: Clean

Seller’s Description: This is a one owner almost all original (some paint touch-ups) never smoked in always garaged, never seen snow, barely seen rain gorgeous car! My father bought it new and babied it. My Mom has maintained it and driven it very lightly since he passed in ’03. Call it a “Garage find” as it has spent most of its life in one. Runs and drives beautifully!

Body Condition: The body is in great shape. However due to a careless mechanic leaving something on top of the engine and SLAMMING the hood! It has had a repaint and the color does not match. The rest of the paint is showing it’s age a very little bit. Roof not perfect, and could use some touch-up, or a quality repaint to make it perfect. Better than a 10 footer right now. drive as is and someday do a repaint is what I would do. Interior is near perfect with only the normals driver’s seat wear on the edge, and slight drying of the wood laminate in the center console.

Mechanical Condition: Mechanically it is between good and excellent. As stated it runs and drives as it should. Smooth, lovely, powerful. Being a mechanic I do recognize the need for maintenance. Soft parts, hoses, FI lines, should receive attention. It does have an ABS light on, I believe it is the accumulator as this is reported as common. Otherwise, brakes feel strong and firm. Tires new. Exhaust quiet and tight. Just changed the oil and filter.

We’ve spoken with Edger and he is willing to attempt to get more photos for anyone that is interested in buying it. So, be sure to message him via the form below to get more info or to schedule a time to look at it.

Saw this ’90 XJS over the weekend, asking $2,450 sign on it says it runs but needs brake work

That’s in Bellingham, WA. The car has had a sunroof cut into it. Unless it’s low miles take a very close look. No such thing as a cheap good Jaguar.

This car is in Bellinham, WA. It might be on the local Craigslist up there.

I have this same year XJS, and I can say that is one of the best years, and it looks like a great deal. Last year of the original body style and last full year of the 5.3 V12

Honest questions: is there some reason to prefer the 5.3L motor to the later 6.0L one?

Also I thought the later 4 speed transmissions were preferred to the earlier ones. I’ve been looking at these lately and I would love to hear opinions. I do think the earlier cars are better looking than the later ones that downplay the buttresses.

‘92 and up have the better intake manifolds and Ford electronics. The 6.0 is a beast also!

I have been messing with old jag’s since the 1960’s. I had a 1990 XJS Rouge Collection Coupe. (Just a trim edition with red paint, red piping on the seats and red trim on the wheels.) I am kinda looking for a 1993 up coupe or convertible with the 6 and later automatic. They are much easier to work on, 4 speed vs 3 speed transmission, and the power driver’s seat seems to go lower and further back then the manual, pre face lift models.

I have an ’88 with 44K on it. Bought it 10 or 12 years ago and put it away. Started driving it about 2 years ago and been loving it. Probably should sell it but like driving it too much,,, Would I like to have the 4 speed tranny and a shorter diff ratio? Sure, but the right car is the right car, flaws and all. IF it weren’t such a cherry I would modify it as I originally planned but can’t bring myself to – yet. There can’t be that many left with this low miles. Anyone else have one?

I’ve had 3 v12s over the years. The best are low mileage and well maintained. Cars that sit are problems with rats, wiring, rubber and corrosion issues. This one looks very good!

Nice looking car. Not enough pics, though. It seems the price is about right (I don’t really follow theses Jags very closely) But, I love the styling on them. Have since I was a kid
