EXCLUSIVE: 1991 Nissan Figaro Convertible

Reader David R and his wife bought not one, but two of these quirky and rare Nissan Figaros. These weren’t ever officially sold here in the States, but now that they are over 25 years old they can be imported and registered for street use. They originally thought it would be fun to have a pair, but have since decided it doesn’t make sense to have two, so his has to go! If you’d love to give this unique little car a good home, be sure to message David via the form below.

One just sold on BaT for $24k. They were cheap a few years ago but now they are 25 years old like all the Classics in Japan they have gone way up in price.

A good number of these were imported as used cars into NZ in the 1990s and sold for premium prices. They became an instant collectable and remain so, to this day.

Neat li’l machines, inspired by the Bianchina and its Nuovo 500 cousin.

Kind of shows the lack of interest, this car was featured here in June, on CL in Evanston, Ill. for $22,000 and nobody caught it. How it got to Naples, Fla.( on a truck, I hope) is pretty is obvious. Flip city. Goes to show, clearly the Evanston owner didn’t get their $22g’s.

115 of them….. Anywhere from high 5k to 25K plus.

      I never would have guessed.

And my friend was hoping to get 2k for his.. lol

I agree with most of the comments here…very sweet little car which seems in very good condition, but at a wildly premium price. Have, like others, also seen similar cars in similar condition for quite a bit less.

They really do have a bit of cult status and you rarely see one, even at car shows. The simple quirky retro design is very appealing. If you’re interested in this sort of car or one of it’s unique cousins, like the the S-Cargo, you’d do well to shop around. I wouldn’t mind having this in my garage next to my 2CV and 500…probably use it a bit more than it’s mates too with the a/c available.

We have a mint one which was purchased for $9k Cdn. My brother just sold his for $8k Cdn. It is mint. This guy is dreaming at $18k U.S. There are lots of them up in Canada at 1/2 his price.

there’s several co (CA, MI, VA & more) that import these 4 U along w/another 1/2 doz to a doz similar models. All JDM, all old enuff for ‘under the wire’ smog’n safety regs. All RHD, all in much better shape than Amer. vehicles of that age.

I got/restored an ol $50 USPS Scout w/ RHD. Didn’t like it’n sold it for a nice profit after restored. RHD is easy to learn (shifting, left hand radio, etc).
    The best? Parallel parking.
    The worse? Every(single)thing else.

One of the few cars designed by Nissan that to me looks well executed. I guess they were too far out in front of the BMW Mini and the Fiat.
