First Love Must Go: 1956 Chevrolet 210

The 210 was the mid-level trim model in the 1955-57 “Tri-Five” Chevies. Out of 1.6 million automobiles that Chevrolet built in 1956, the 210 2-door post sedan would account for 206,000 copies, the third best-selling model/body style. This car was purchased during the seller’s high school years, but 17 years later not much has been done to restore it. From a barn in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, this old Chevy is available here on eBay where no one has yet to cast the opening bid of $5,000. Our thanks go to Jamie for the heads up on this project.

You had three trim choices when shopping for a Chevrolet in 1956. The 150 was the entry-level model with a minimum of fanfare. Then there was the 210 with a few more trim doo dads. And finally, the Bel Air for when you wanted people to know you had “arrived.” The seller seems uncertain as to what this car is even though he’s owned it for years. In the description, it’s referred to as a Bel Air, yet the VIN provided says it’s a 210. The VIN also says it’s a V8 model, but the original 265 cubic inch V8 is gone in favor of a 1970s 350 V8 (no photos provided).

We assume the car was in project state when the seller bought it and it has only progressed minimally since then. The seller says he fixed the floors, rocker panels, and dog legs in 2006 (rusted?), but that’s as far as he got. The rest of the body is solid, but its current resting place doesn’t exude confidence that you won’t find more. The front fenders don’t match the rest of the car, so were they replaced due to either corrosion or dents? The seller is moving and must clean house. So perhaps his loss is your gain with this ’56 Chevy. But there is more work here than meets the eye. For example, the only photos provided of the interior show worn-out floor covers and upholstery. This car needs more love than it’s received in the past couple of decades.

I would like to meet the buyer who plunks down 5K for this thing. Other than politicians I’ve never met anyone crazy enough to want this car.

I feel for this Seller and hope he likes baths because he’s going to take one with this ’56

Goofy price aside, I think the 56s were the best looking year of the three. This would be great with a mild small block, quiet exhaust, some classic air, comfortable seats, and a sunny day.

If he’s serious he will drop the price. No pics, not much dialog. You are plunking down exorbitant fees to have it on Feebay, why not maximize? at least pull it out of the barn, dirt floor as it is. Hit him up if you think you might be interested, hard to tell with no pics. Good luck and happy motoring.

It appears the pass fender has had the headlight eyebrow patch put on, poorly. Looks to be aimed down to me. The other fender has metal missing below the headlight. That’s just at a glance. I think this is a rust bucket that no one will jump on for 5K. At least I’m right so far. Poor ad, poor pics, poor info. Wastd ad.

His first love? Parked halfway into a lean to, and sinking into the mud? I wonder how he treats his dog?

I’d pay him 500-1000 as a parts car. I need some parts for my own 56.

You never know boys, there’s still a lot of guys that never restored a car out there that think it’s easy and cheap.

Of course it is. I’ve seen it on TV. Start to finish takes a week.

It’s 45 minutes with commercials, just like the real estate transaction. Easy Peezy

42 minutes if your not counting commercials. Mine has taken 23 years so far and about 60 grand , not including labor . I don’t think it will ever be done done !

The description reads like it was written from a church confessional or a psychiatrists couch

Yikes! A 4 door rust bucket. Seller is certainly an optimist. I can’t believe anyone needs a parts car that badly.

Unfortunately a four-door in this condition means one thing: parts car……..

The original front fenders probably ended up on a 2 door or ragtop years ago
