The Ford Model A was the successor to the Model T and had the bad fortune of being introduced just before the start of The Great Depression. So only five million copies were built across four years vs. 15 million of the Ts in nearly 20 years. This sweet 2-door sedan is a cool restomod that seems to nicely blends the old with the new. From Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, this sweet ride is available here on craigslist for $23,000 OBO. Hats off to Rocco B. for this neato find!
Like the Model T, there were loads of variants of the Model A, so without a specific model number, we’re not sure how many of the sedans like the seller’s vehicle were ever around. But it’s clear that someone has put a lot of sweat equity and money into the transformation of this machine that’s not far from celebrating its 100th birthday (only seven years to go!).
This car sports a 5-main bearing, Burtz Model A engine block which has been balanced as just a start to improving the performance and reliability of the Ford. Additional upgrades include a high compression head, improved intake manifold, aftermarket carburetors, electronic ignition, and even a V8 clutch. The seller doesn’t indicate how all of this translates into more speed, but it should easily outrun a stock Model A.
The body looks perfect as does the paint, which the seller says is blue but looks more like green to me. This Ford has been converted to a 12-electrical system, which aptly operates the power windows that have been added. The interior looks quite inviting and should be a pleasure to cruise around in. The seller is throwing in some extra parts, which include a spare engine and an overdrive unit, which is new. If you want the car without the motor, that’s workable as the seller can market it separately while you drop in a small block 327.
This isn’t my favorite body style but the mechanicals are really interesting. I would love to install vintage speed equipment in my Model A; fortunately there’s a lot to choose from!
Real nice build.Love that motor.
But but but …. LS SWAP lmao 🤣😂🤣😂
Too silly, with no appreciation for history.
There is almost $10k I that engine…will run all day at freeway speeds with that insert bearing crank and full oil pressure…sweet set up!
Love this body style and the “in the era” modifications. Do the same to the ’39 Ford sedan everyone has different opinions about and you have something unique and fun to drive. Very nice car.
This is a nice car and a very tasteful build. If you don’t know what the seller is talking about, look it up and you won’t make an ass out of yourself. I haven’t ever driven a car with this set up ,but I would expect it to be similar to a nice Flathead, which I have driven a lot. This car is not for everybody, but if you know, it is a Model A worth having.
Excellent, appropriate comment.!!
Wow, this tudor reminds me the my first ride in a model A, my cousins daily driver back in the 60’s, I’ve loved them ever since. Seems to me 5 million produced is quite a few considering the small population at the time.
302 or 351 No need to cheapen the car by putting a POS GM in it.
I hope this one stays as-is. A well balanced, good running stock A was not unpleasant to drive, but this one would be absolutely marvelous! I hope no one will separate what seems to me to be just about the perfect A for just plain fun! It would be a real shame to make it just another face in the crowd with a V8 hot rod conversion. I’d love it just the way it is.
