Four Door Conversion: 1994 Ford Bronco Centurion

It’s clear that we’re not going to see the demise of the SUV anytime soon. For many of us, this is somewhat disappointing, especially considering how poorly some of the owners of these behemoths drive while behind the wheel. Still, we can all admit the utility factor is impressive, and choosing a rare, vintage SUV can make driving such a rig seem more tolerable. This rare Centurion-conversion Bronco listed here on eBay is currently bid to $5,900 with no reserve, and offers tons of space and low-stress maintenance.

I mention that last part because many modern SUVs are as expensive to maintain as any other luxury car. 22-inch wheels and tires, high-end electronic equipment, more video screens and airbags than you can shake a stick at, and body panels that seem to be caught in an endless cycle of parts shortages make owning anything new highly unappealing. The Centurion may be rare, but the any needed parts are still likely in strong supply in boneyards across America, and the running gear is cheap to maintain and replace components on when necessary.

Now, if you’re someone who enjoys having the latest in high-tech equipment and entertainment, I can understand why this truck wouldn’t appeal to you. Personally, I don’t mind simple as it relates to technology, and you can address most shortcomings with an aftermarket rear view camera and updated touch-screen monitor. The Centurion may be an aftermarket creation, but the interior is straight out of an early 90s Bronco, with the exception of perhaps some additional woodgrain trim (which still looks presentable in this example.)

The seller acknowledges the Centurion has some cosmetic flaws, most notably on the passenger door on the driver’s side. Some belt-line trim is missing, and there’s a nasty dent by the gas tank. However, there’s no rust to speak of, and the seller claims the running gear is in excellent order save for a potentially weak alternator, which he will replace before the auction ends if it turns out to be faulty. If the dent gets popped out and the rear door cleaned up, I’ll bet this Centurion will look quite handsome, and able to go toe-to-toe with any other SUV on the road.

I plan on driving older cars for as long as that’s possible. If they’re properly taken care of, they’ll still be on the road while new cars are tossed away due to software no longer being supported/ updated, insurance company’s totaling them for what used to be a minor repairable accident, but now involves replacing multiple expensive airbags, sensors, etc., or just tossed as a result of ridiculously high mechanical/ electrical repair costs due to everything being overly complex, that the average person won’t be able to afford.

Look up $5600 F150 tail lamp repair on YouTube.

As for this Bronco, it needs some love, but it’s rare and different which is a good thing.

Oh, and in my area the poor driving isn’t limited to just large SUV’S, it’s pretty much everyone at this point, but I suppose they’re still the worst.

All of this combined makes for what used to be a fun hobby not so fun anymore. I don’t even really enjoy driving anymore. Sorry for being a downer, lol everyone have a good one.
