Classic cars are our bread and butter, but sometimes it is refreshing to feature something a little more affordable. Everyone should have an old Mobilgas sign for their garage. This one is claimed to be porcelain, so I assume it’s authentic? The dark spots may make it less valuable to collectors, but I personally like the look. Find it here on eBay where bidding is currently just over $50 with a day left. Anyone have any photos of their petroliana collections to share? Or maybe you could help us find more cool garage decor?

Actually the chips really don’t affect the value too much, it’s pretty much standard fare with 80 year old porcelain signs. Perfect ones are more expensive, but a few chips don’t hurt too much. This sign is in good shape.. It almost looks too new

I bought a large Mobil gas 5ft hanging sign back in 2010 it has the hanging bracket attached and is marked Texlite 35 my guess the year. My best barn find to date
love them but a little leery to buy off line. a lot of pretty good fakes out there to buy from pix
I have the same sign hanging in my garage, except it says Mobilgas gasoline. I had no idea of it’s value…Nice find!
Those “black spots” are actually chips in the porcelain and, except in really severe cases, do not detract from the desirability or value. The chips were usually sustained by tires spinning loose gravel or a drunk gunslinger getting off on his rifle.
As porcelain signs go, this is about as mint as they get, and should bring at least a grand. A recent auction in Cali. saw a 1930’s Lincoln-Zephyr go for $30,000.
If you want a collection of mint, original porcelain gas station signs, storage will never be a problem – you can store it in the palm of your hand.

Too small to be signage.
Correct. It’s only a foot square and has for attaching holes at the extreme corners. If it were any larger, it would have far more damage.
