The Satellite joined the Belvedere ranks in 1965 as Plymouth’s top mid-size car. The Sport Satellite arrived in 1968 (bucket seats in coupes and convertibles) with a higher level of trim and would remain in the hunt for three years. This 1970 edition is a roller with its 318 cubic inch V8 and automatic transmission out of the car but along for the ride. As is a 440 engine at the seller’s asking price of $18,000 here on eBay and in North East, Maryland. Thanks for Mopar tip, M Struglia!
If you wanted a mid-size car with flair but without major muscle under the hood, the Sport Satellite was the preferred choice over the GTX. The latter, in production from 1967 to 1971, had a 440 cubic inch V8 as standard equipment. On the other hand, the Sport Satellite left the factory with a 318 as its basic powerplant, though you could upgrade. Because these Plymouth B-bodies were all cut from the same cloth, the Road Runner hood with an Air Grabber hook-up should fit just fine, which is the case here.
There were just under 8,750 Sport Satellite 2-door hardtops built in 1970, including this one. While it’s not all crumpled up, the seller acknowledges that the rear quarters, front fenders, tail panel, and trunk pan will all need work or replacing (likely due to the rust bug). But to help facilitate these repairs, the seller is sending along new or newer pieces except for the quarters.
We assume the original engine and transmission were removed because they either had problems or the car was on its way to becoming a GTX clone. They’re there to go on a trailer as is a 440-engine rated at 67 hp (gotta be a mistake; maybe 360?). We’re told it’s complete except for a carburetor. So, you will decide to either go back to stock or continue down the path of a GTX tribute.
I have a 1970 Coronet 500, similar to this car. Also a 318-auto, I converted it to a 4-speed. It was a nice car to take on long trips, stable and comfortable. After I put disk brakes on it I could bring it to a stop in time to stay out of trouble as a teenage driver.

Kinda agree with Terry…..looks like a lot of work and money for a non-GTX/RR roller.
SOS for Graveyard Carz…SAVE ME!
“It needs quarter skins, it needs a tail panel, it needs front fenders. It needs a trunk Pan.”,…..
It also needs a more realistic price if the buyer is going to sink that much more effort into this.
Here we go again , different name now, same comments
