Garaged since 1984, this Chevrolet C20 Highlander Custom is a sharp surviving example. Having covered only 71,000 miles in its lifetime, this bone stock find is ready to roll. With some recent work, and a few keen options, this C20 would sure look sharp towing a vintage race car, or camper. Packing a 350 V8 and a turbo hydramatic, this C20 also features air con, heavy duty springs, auxiliary springs, and power disc brakes. Those are the features that would really sell me on this vintage truck, as it offers a level of practicality for this classic. A recent tune up has been performed, and the fuel system has also been given quite a bit of attention. Most importantly, this truck has been given a NOS carb, and the points have been ditched in favor of an electronic ignition. Both very good things that will increase the reliability of this truck.
The groovy Highland plaid interior appears nice from what I can see, and appears to need little to nothing. The white interior components appear crisp and clean, and the steering wheel looks quite nice as well, with no evident wear or cracking.
While this truck is very photogenic, there are a couple of minor things that need to be pointed out. There is a small amount of rust on each door, and there is also a dent on the passenger rear corner of the bed. Thankfully that looks to be the worst of it. There is various paint wear on this truck, mostly by the gas cap and along the top edge of the tailgate. Despite these minor concerns, this is still a prime surviving example. Few trucks live an easy life, but it would appear that this Chevy was one of the lucky few. What would you tow with this C20 survivor?
This truck was featured here on BF in December 2018 with an asking price of 25K. It has different tires, no topper and a USA-1 license plate now, but the white rub marks on the driver side right front fender are the same in both pictures.

Didn’t all 2wd Chevy and GMC trucks of this generation have all wheel coil springs?
I think that might have been 1/2 ton only.
They switched back to leaf springs in the rear for 1972.
I have a 71 C-10 (half ton) 2WD with leaf springs, but most came with coil springs. When I was young my grandfather had a C-20 (3/4 ton) 2WD that had coil springs, which I thought was odd being a heavier duty truck. I also once had a 72 C-10 2WD that was a coil spring. Basically, the leaf springs were an option.
While a very desirable Chevy pickup that’s well-optioned and in pretty good shape, there’s still work to be done if you want to really make it look it’s best. Rust repair here and there on the doors and some to be addressed in the bed along with the dents in the rear passenger side quarter. Then maybe a complete re-paint. Priced a little high in my mind but I’m a FordGuy so Chevy enthusiasts may disagree. It has a lot going for it so maybe someone who really wants a solid example will think the price is reasonable.
Still priced to high. Rusted doors and the rear of the bed floor has rust holes all the way through! You could definitely find a better truck for the money. I doubt it will sell at that price.
Here is my 1972 Original Highlander, 402 TH400 automatic 59000 miles and as clean under hood as a new one and body is perfect. Looking for another clean 4×4 as well. Can’t seem to post picture.

Thanks it’s super clean and nice wanted to make it a 4×4 but just can’t bring myself to doing it even though I would do it right and nobody would ever know. But it’s only original once.
