Huge Stash of Classic Cars and Parts

Finding the right candidate for a project build can be challenging, and enthusiasts often chase their tails during their quest. Even if they already have a restoration on the go, hunting through regular online auction sites for parts can be a battle. We may have the answer for you because we’ve recently chanced upon an auction loaded with classic cars and parts. There appears to be something for everyone, and with the bidding on most items surprisingly low, there’s a chance for someone to score a bargain. You will find the auction here at Bid Fast and Last in Chatsworth, California.

One of the more desirable vehicles on offer is a 1969 Pontiac GTO. It currently wears Carousel Red paint, but the Tag indicates it rolled off the line finished in Mayfair Maize. The seller supplies a few underside shots, and this beauty appears as solid as a rock. The interior is complete but needs love, while the drivetrain includes a 400ci V8, a three-speed automatic transmission, and power assistance for the steering and brakes. Its mechanical health is unclear, but it could be worth the risk with the bidding at $2,300.

If something from the good people at the Blue Oval is more to your taste, this 1965 Mustang Convertible could grab your attention. As with the GTO, its Rangoon Red paint isn’t original. Hiding beneath it is attractive Honey Gold. Once again, it looks rock-solid, although it is missing a few minor panels and trim parts. There are items scattered around the partially dismantled interior, but a careful search may unearth the removed items. It originally featured a T-Code 200ci six under the hood, but that has made way for a V8. Its size and condition are unclear, but budgeting for a rebuild could be wise. However, with the bidding sitting at $2,100, there could be plenty of room to move before its financial viability becomes questionable.

If something from foreign shores is your heart’s desire, you can take your pick from several of Datsun’s legendary “Z” cars. This 1978 280Z caught my eye for several reasons. Not only is it essentially complete and equipped with a desirable manual transmission, but the supplied photos reveal little beyond surface corrosion. If that isn’t enough to tempt you, the fact that the bidding currently stands at $15 could prove the tipping point. For those seeking diversity, a few European vehicles are available, including several wearing Mercedes-Benz badges.

If you are searching for an elusive part for your existing project, this auction seems to have something for everyone. This set of four Mopar 14″ Rallye wheels caught my eye, but they are the tip of the iceberg. They’ve only reached $5 so far, but there are wheels for Fords, Chevrolets, BMWs, and a wide range of aftermarket ones for good measure. You can take your pick of body panels, including a First Generation Mustang hood that has only reached $5 and more exterior trim, chrome, and interior parts than you could imagine. Most have low or no bids, meaning there could be a bargain hiding there for the right person.

The sheer scope of this auction is mind-blowing, and I believe it features something to cater to most tastes. The fact it is located in a dry climate may have protected the classic steel on offer, meaning there may not be much grinding in any of the projects. If you are hunting for parts or a complete car, this could be the automotive Mother Lode you’ve dreamed of. I will be interested to see if any of our readers pursue it further.

Without being too rude ( who me?), I scrolled down and quite frankly, I see a lot of crap, with a few exceptions, as always. I think this is the tip of the iceberg on these sales, everybody hoping to cash in. Well, hate to break it to them, but the ship has sailed on most of this stuff. Pick out the few good ones,, and the rest is “Toyota bound”,,,

It is quite possible for most at being past their prime. Others it is only the begining. The Datsun Z cars as projects offer up something special. With recent values going through the roof I predict these will command the interest.

I like sales like this. Something for everyone. There are going a lot of deals. No different than going to a swapmeet. You have to look through junk to get what you want. Bottom line one persons junk is treasure to someone else.

It is what makes the world go around.

Somebody should send the picture of the GTO motor to a Pontiac expert. I don’t know how to read the full VIN but the first digits confirm it is a 1969 GTO. What is most interesting is it has headers, and what looks to me like an aftermarket intake and Holley carburetor. It also has headers, which you can see on the passenger side in one of the auction site pictures. It also has under-dash gauges, and pull handles on the passenger side that look added. The car is a mess, but I think it might be worth trying to see if it came with a RAM IV motor.

Been there done that. Thirty years of well crap, most would run, some couldn’t, some wouldn’t. Engines, transmissions, posis, tons of stuff from a 59 Caddy convertible to early Challengers. I didn’t discriminate. I had my favorites, but I had and still have way too much. Like said in the upper comments, the boat has sailed on this type of things. After the first month of Craigslist, the kickers, pickers, and flippers. Fee bay hell. I thought of and contacted and auction company but fr going to auctions and their fees I decided that just calling in a scrap processor was the way to go. Core them out, cut a hole in the tank. Who cares about big block this, convertible that. Trying to sell multiple cars, parts and other items is a nightmare, especially if the stuff isn’t concourse. I never bought things to turn a profit anyway. They were for my own amusement. Convertibles made great parts dumpsters. It took no time at all and there wasn’t a lugnut left. When my time comes, my son has no interest in any of my remaining cars, nice or otherwise so I have made arrangements for everything to be scrapped. Just old cars, no famous owned, no high-end Shelby’s, just cars. This guy should do the same as it is much easier. Pull the battery and crush it.

Core them out and call in the scrap processor. Sure a few items there might be valuable but the current owner won’t reap any of it it as stuff like this is a car vultures paradise. The pickers, kickers, and flippers will clean up for pennies and after you pay the auction fees and then get your 1099, that fellow will have little to nothing left from his collecting. Scrap it all you make far more in the short run. Set the no brain, easily shipped items aside and they take the rest. Nothing to clean or pay to have hauled off.

Chris, While I agree with most of the things you said regarding the issues one faces of getting rid of stuff. I disagree with calling in a crusher just yet. I don’t know what you have but you may want to reconsider. Not everyone is a shark. There are honest and passionate enthusiasts. It would be nice to put the parts into the hands of those that need them. I mean if the junk yard is giving you $150 each (what they are paying local) and you get $500 you are still making money.
