If the Schwinn or Huffy from the other day caught your attention, then this stash should drop your jaw. As should the asking price! An enthusiastic collector has put together this group of 11 bikes. Most of the Krate colors are represented and there’s even a Mini-Twinn – built for two! The seller doesn’t provide much information on the bikes though. Have they been restored? Are they reproductions? You would think that details like these would be important when you are asking $25,000! Still, this cycle stash is worth a look. Find them here on eBay out of Simi Valley, California. Bring a bike rack!
I remember there was a bike with a swivel joint in the back bone. Forget the name, or who made it.
Bike was called the Swing Bike. A friend had one when we were kids. I want(ed) one so bad. Rather hard to come by even then if I recall correctly.
I posted this on the other Stingray post. Be careful what you start collecting. “I wanted a couple Stingrays to decorate my dealership and it got a little out of hand.” :)
Best wall art ever!
great garage. i hope you ride the bikes from time to time. thanks for sharing.
I love that Hupmobile….it is a Hupmobile isnt it? Or a Graham? Whatever its beautiful!
I got one of the first Stingray’s sold at our local Schwinn shop for my 8th birthday. It was gold with the white banana seat. No spring on the front fork and no hand front brake just a plain Stingray bike and was I the envy of the kids in our neighborhood. It was cool but I’m not nostalgic about it and would never pay big bucks for another. It would be nice to pass it on to my grandkids but it wouldn’t be cool enough for them.
this seller has 6 other bikes listed on ebay, all interesting and priced between $700 and $900 each. on this listing i hope the seller will be interested in offers on each bike as $25000 for the lot limits your buyer pool. great finds.
I had a purple Stingray when I was 8. Awesome little bike.
I liked the wide slick tire in the back. Now, i have a 75 Corvette Stingray. Guess ya never outgrow your toys!
Four front drum brake Krates, and a single speed coaster Cotton Picker, not a bad collection with the Mini Twin, a close inspection and date verification may justify the asking price.
My parents couldn’t afford the Schwinns we wanted, so for Xmas one year, I got a Stingray clone with the Stick Shift. I loved that bike and forbid my kid brother from riding it, but he would “steal” it all the time. My fahter ended up buying him a much cooler bike – a Kool Kats Lemon Twist – used out of the newspaper.
I was very jealous!
I can’t find much about this bike now, except for an old auction for it’s orange brethren – the Orange Peel:
