Ignore the Pollen: 1981 Chevy Camaro Z28

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This 1981 Chevy Camaro Z28 may look slightly worse than it really is, thanks to the healthy coating of Florida pollen on the nose. The seller says to ignore that and focus on this nearly rust-free example’s running, driving condition and numbers-matching powertrain. The Z28 does look quite original, with the exception of a supposedly awesome sound system. Find it here on eBay with a Buy-It-Now of $7,150.

The maroon paint with gold graphics is a great look, along with the color-matched wheels. The seller claims this Camaro is operating at 100% mechanically, with lots of money spent on maintenance needs. Everything is supposedly operational with the exception of the cruise control and the clock. A/C works and is completely refreshed, along with the brakes.

Out of the garage, we can see a Z28 with the excellent shut lines and consistently aged paint that would suggest this Camaro hasn’t seen a paint booth any time recently – and that’s a good thing. The rear quarter panels look slightly tired, but that may even come back with a good buffing. The front spats are a must-have for any Z28, and it’s good to see them still attached here.

Of course, if Florida is too far of a drive or you’re looking for a Camaro project you can call your own, we suggest checking out this recently-extracted car from the Barn Finds Exclusive featuring the large Georgia salvage yard collection. This car is a lower-spec model, but is largely straight with no major parts missing. It will be featured in our next writeup of the Georgia collection, so keep your eyes peeled here.

This color combination was a refreshing change from most of the ones offered that year. Must be somewhat rare these days. I would drive it! Get some Bing Crosby or Doris Day going on that awesome aftermarket sound system n look out!!!

I remember when people said that these would never be collectible. Sure, they aren’t a Dodge Charger or a Pontiac GTO… but I always knew that one day people would want them.

My first car was a 1976 Camaro.

Literally all the clock needs is a shoulder joint repaired. All of the clocks in the GM vehicles succumbed to that. Cruise more than likely needs the mechanical unit in line with the speedo cables. Sweet Z28.

I agree on the color. It has the 70’s flair without the more obnoxious color/stripes.
