Loaded IROC: 1987 Chevy Camaro

When you own a car produced in huge quantities, it helps to have some desirable options to set it apart. This 1987 Chevy Camaro IROC -Z has just been released from 32-year single-family ownership, and shows just 46,000 original miles. The options list is quite long and helps make this one standout even further. Find it here on eBay with bids over $7K and no reserve.

Obviously, it’s nice to see clean paint with the factory graphics kit still in place and sharp OEM alloy wheels. This particular Camaro also sports the desirable combination of the 5.7L V8 and T-top roof. All panels are said to be original to the car with factory VIN stickers still in place. The seller says it sat unused for almost 15 in the original owners’ garage.

The interior doesn’t have the higher-zoot leather interior option, but does come with a power driver’s seat and Bose stereo system. It also comes with the overhead console featuring a removable flashlight. The seller mentions the Camaro coming with the desirable 1SC option, but I’m not sure what that consists of – any Camaro experts care to share?

Personally, the 1LE package is the only one I’ve ever cared about, but to each their own. The seller notes he has changed all the fluids and that the Camaro runs strong. A new windshield was installed to replace a chipped one, but no other reconditioning is mentioned; perhaps it didn’t need it. Whether these options set this Camaro apart is subjective, but there’s little doubt it’s a nice one.

Best color available for these cars.
Pretty sure it’s first year for it as well as the 350.
1SC was kinda the opposite of 1LE: it got you the power controls & fancy interior/audio features in one tick of the options list.
    I”d rock this IROC.

I would like to see some underbody pics of the car if I were looking to buy. The black metal surrounds behind headlights look pretty rusty to me and makes me think it was stored in a damp place. Still a very impressive car in one of my favorite colors.

This is a nice car. It looks as if it has the 3.27 gear in it which wasn’t available on the newer IROC’s with T-Tops.

My girlfriend at the time picked one of these up with a cracked head. We rebuilt the engine with ported heads, roller rocker with a Crane cam. This thing flew like the wind. With the T-tops this is on the top of my want list.

The stained interior makes me think this car was under water at some point. I bought some fresh water flood cars as parts cars and the interior looks similar to them. It just looks too rough for a one owner car with only 46K on the clock. As stated earlier, it may have just been stored in a damp place too.
