Loaded With Patina: 1964 Ford Galaxie Wagon

If you aren’t familiar with the Hot Rod Power Tour you should be. Basically folks drive hot rods together and go to interesting places for car people. This 1964 Galaxie wagon would be right at home on the tour, and you can find it for sale here on eBay, where bidding is currently up to $5,100 without a reserve. The car is currently located in Darrington, Washington.

Before you let that one rusty fender distract you, take a look at this gallery of the wagons on the 2018 Power Tour. Ok, now that you’re blinded by the desire to go, that fender doesn’t really look that bad, does it? The seller tells us that the only rust (I’m guessing this means rust-through in their mind) is some pinholes on the driver’s rear quarter panel, and that even the floor pans are shiny original paint.

I love the “Country Sedan” moniker. The Torq-Thrust wheels are so right as well.

I admit that I would reupholster the front seat, but I suppose the classic blanket would work for a while, or a $30 FLAPS (Friendly, Local Auto Parts Store) seat cover. I’m pretty sure you could leave the rest alone other than carpeting. A new carpet set is available here for less than $200.

This is a 352 V8; no idea if it is original or not. The wagon has already been converted to front disc brakes although I can’t tell if it’s a single or dual master cylinder from this picture. We’re told that everything works apart from some funny readings on the gas gauge. And here’s a brand new air conditioning kit for $1,500. It sure appears that you could be cruising in style for under $10k if the auction bidding doesn’t go crazy. What do you think, Barn Finds readers? And if any of you have driven the Power Tour let us know; this year’s tour went through the little town I live in!

This generation was like THE family wagon to have when I was growing up. Big and tough and very popular. Love them, even if you did have to reach over the steering wheel and pull the shift toward you to start them.

My dad bought one of these new in the exact same yellow. This thing was a great family open road cruiser. Fun memories…thanks for posting!

I owned several Galaxies and one Custom 64 models, but never a 64 wagon. I did own a 71 and a 74 wagon, but I always liked the 64 style the best. Just me rambling on.

This is very cool. Love it. My dad had a maroon 64 sedan. Loved that car

I can never see these without thinking about having to do the Bench Seat Boogaloo every time we had to adjust the seat for my 5′-1″ tall mom. Something kids won’t ever have to do in a modern car.

I took my 14 year old niece and a few others for a ride in my 62 Pontiac convertible. She’s in the front passenger seat, and I see her looking around for something, so I asked what she’s looking for. She said she couldn’t find the button to roll up the window. I was busting up laughing! Pointed to the handle to crank the window. She had never seen one before! At that moment I felt really old.

Why does “Loaded With Patina” sound like a new sandwich at Subway…..?

If you eat it, you’ll instantly get ‘the splats.’ Must be something in the mayo. Or the ‘rustard.’ Gives an all new meaning to the “Power Tour.” Have a sub, head for the thunder bucket 30 minutes later.

I’m gonna’ have to sell the ranch and move to where these cars are located. Neat find.

We had a red ’64 Country Squire when I was a kid. Complete with wood grain sides and roof rack. Loved riding in the very back seat.

Interesting building that it’s stored in. Looks like it used to be a supermarket.

After my dad left American Motors we were free to choose any brand of vehicles. My mother had Ford Country Sedans in series, all bought new – 1957 white with red interior; 1960 white with turquoise inside; 1963 white with brown interior. Ford wagons were tough and reliable, but that was easy to say when you bought a new one every three years.

Said it before and I’ll say it again, throw on a set of torque thrust’s on these old cars and instant ‘rod. Would have looked great as a parts chaser at the local speed shop, noisy glass pack dual exhaust burbling away and all that. 352 may run good but for a rod it’s got to have more under the hood…maybe.
