Lotus Espirit Project for $2,500!

The Espirit has held a long heritage as a cool and unique sports car even from the early days as James Bonds amphibious spy machine. This ’88 model was involved in a front end collision to which the fiberglass body repaired. After gaining a salvage title the current seller had plans to build this machine into a GT1 track car with a Chevrolet LS engine. Lacking drivetrain but many other parts, this Lotus could be a cool “kit car” like project to make into your own vision. For a mere $2,500 this could certainly be a very cool ride! Be sure to check it out here on eBay out of Westminster, California.

Lacking the original drivetrain, this Lotus is a bit of a blank canvas. Certainly, you could restore this machine, or perhaps you are craving a machine that would make the faint of heart expire. The LS engine is a neat idea and would be an incredible handful, to say the least. As you can see, this car has been disassembled for cleaning.

The suspension and brakes appear to be with the car, along with an extra chassis. The original chassis was bent in the front end collision the car suffered, so the seller is including another chassis that is in good shape.

The interior is quite bland at this point, and there is no mention or evidence of there being any interior parts included with the car. A bit of a shame if there is nothing, but anyone who has the creative soul to want to build the mechanical aspect of this car could certainly come up with an interior for this machine.

There is some glass included with this Lotus, but as to how much is unknown. Although this car was involved in a front end collision, I am guessing the majority of the damage occurred low to the ground impacting the chassis the most. There is evidence of body damage on the passenger front fender where a broad crack occurred and was loosely repaired. Beyond that one area of repair, I don’t see any other evidence of damage or repair on the body itself. With a little creativity and a lot of time, you could have a very cool Espirit! Would you take on this Lotus project?

Surely there will be less trouble since there doesn’t seem to be much of the original car left.

I have a 94 esprit that I’m repairing from a minor accident. Repair and parts for the listed Esprit will cost more than the listed Esprit is worth, even with values going up. But it is a fun ride.

I had a customer who wanted to drop off his Esprit at my house to check out a noise in his engine. Thank god it blew up on the way to my house and not while in my possesion!

Probably best as a static art piece for business signage or ‘very large’ Man Cave.

This is a great opportunity for a “Spy Who Loved Me” themed LeMons car, or just take this and dump it in the ocean……
