When it came to the market in 1969, the GTO Judge was not exactly what Pontiac had envisaged the model to be. Their intent had been for the car to be a “stripper,” with rubber floor mats and a total focus on performance. The Judge did not end up being that austere, but it definitely met the criteria of providing performance aplenty. This Judge is a nice example that is located in Colchester, Connecticut, and has been listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding has reached $28,100, and with the reserve met, it is set to head off to a new home.

The Judge rolled off the production line finished in its current Carousel Red, but it has received a repaint at some point in the past whilst under the care of a previous owner. It does present quite nicely, with no obvious signs of any rust issues. As is typical with a Judge, it wears a set of Rally II wheels minus trim rings, and these appears to be in good condition. All of the correct badges and decals are present, as is the rear spoiler. The Judge also comes equipped with the oh-so-cool hood tach, and naturally, the Ram Air hood.

Performance was key with The Judge, so as standard equipment the owner found themselves with the Ram Air III 400ci V8, pumping out a healthy 366hp. Standard transmission was a 3-speed manual, but this Judge came off the showroom floor equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, a Safe-T-Track rear end, power steering, and power front disc brakes. This is a numbers-matching car, and it appears as though it is in very good health. Performance is everything (and more) that you would expect from a 3,670lb car being pushed along by 366hp. A 0-60 time of 5.2 seconds and a ¼ mile ET of 13.8 seconds were both extremely respectable back in 1969, and they still hold up well today.

The interior of The Judge presents quite well, and it isn’t clear whether the trim is all original. I don’t believe that the cover on the driver’s seat is, because not only is it missing the distinctive silver emblem from the center of the backrest, but there is no evidence that this cover ever wore one. That cover is showing a few minor marks and holes, while there has been some noticeable deterioration of the glove compartment door. The rest of the interior presents quite well, with no other signs of major problems or issues.

The Judge is a car that has become something of a legend, and in 1969 Pontiac produced 6,725 examples in Hardtop form. They have managed to retain their value well, and while it is possible to find nice examples below $45,000, those cars are becoming something of a rarity today. If this one is as rust-free and original as it would seem to be, it’s easy to understand why there are currently 153 people watching the listing.
