The popular Ford Mustang was treated to its second styling refresh in 1969, so the 1970 models were little changed. The car went back to single headlights, and the taillights were different. This ’70 Mustang coupe may be a one-family car, as it’s been in their care since 1969. The drivetrain was refreshed many moons ago, and the “pony car” is wearing a paint mixture Ford used in 2002. Located in Bothel, Washington, this little gem is available here on craigslist for $19,500. Check the box for another swell tip from “Curvette”.

Sales of the Mustang dropped by a third in 1970, but that was likely due to a saturated market now populated by at least a half-dozen competitors. The “standard” hardtop coupe was still the most popular and found 83,000 buyers that year. We assume the seller’s car is one of them, as no mention is made of this being a Grande Coupe. It has its original 302 cubic inch V8 (2-barrel) that was refreshed 24 years ago, with some mods done to add a little more punch.

The seller also says the transmission was redone when the engine was, but he/she refers to the tranny as being a 4-speed automatic. There was no such thing at Ford in 1970, so perhaps changes were made as a shift kit was installed. Dual exhaust was added, which no doubt makes the Ford sound a tad tougher than it used to.

The odometer has rolled over and says 56,500 miles, but the overall car is no worse for the wear. The ‘Stang was repainted in Harvest Gold, not a Ford hue in 1970, and the vinyl top was redone, and American Racing wheels were added. The interior has likely been refreshed, as the upholstery pattern doesn’t look like a combination I remember from those days. As long as you don’t mind the various changes and upgrades, this looks like a sweet ride.
