Mauve Interior! 1969 Cadillac Eldorado

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Patina Silver is, I believe, the color of this great-looking 1969 Cadillac Eldorado. It’s a modern, stately color befitting a top luxury car, such as this two-door luxury coupe. And if you think this is nice, just wait until you get to the interior color! The seller has this car listed here on eBay in Grants Pass, Oregon, there is no reserve, and the current bid price is just $3,350.

I have just one silver vehicle now, but I’ve had a few over the last couple of decades. It’s a tough color if you need to have any bodywork done, it seems like the panels rarely match after that, due to the metallic in the paint. I’ve been burned a couple of times on that, but this car appears like it just silently and smoothly snuck out of a 1969 Cadillac brochure. Sadly, the seller didn’t include even a tiny glimpse of the driver’s side, but we automatically assume it’s as nice as the passenger side looks. I hope it is.

Needless to say, 2025 vehicles typically don’t offer interior colors in the same hues as they did back in the late-60s! “Yes, let’s skip the black leather interior and, ohh, let’s go with the Mauve Dubonnet Cloth seats in my new Escalade/Camry/Accord/F-150.” You will never hear that at a modern dealership. Ever.

Zinnng! More mauve in back, and even the carpet is mauve. I love it, anything different works for me. Black or tan interiors are so ridiculously boring these days; there aren’t many other choices. Again, like manual transmissions going away, is it because buyers choose resale-safe interior colors, or are manufacturers forcing boring colors on us? Mauve or not, the interior looks absolutely perfect to me, I don’t see even a tiny flaw inside.

As expected, the engine looks as clean as can be, other than some light surface rust on some fasteners and a few other areas. This is Cadillac’s big, brawny 472-cu.in. OHV V8 with 375 horsepower and a whopping 525 lb-ft of torque when new. Backed by a THM-425 sending oodles of power to the spinning front wheels, the seller says this one was overhauled three years ago and has just traveled just 5,000 miles since then, and is in great running and driving condition. This looks like a winner to me. Could you live with a mauve interior if it were inside this gorgeous silver Eldorado? I sure could.

This is one gorgeous Eldorado. And I never would have thought of pairing mauve with the silver. ( ok, to be honest I didn’t even know they had this color back then) but its just rich looking, very royal if you will. Even the carpet. This interior color has got to be rare. Huge kudos for under hood pictures to the seller. Very very clean. I always liked the “Cadillac 472” lettering on the air cleaner housing, even thats classy.
Very nice find and write up Scotty. I enjoyed it a lot.

Good call Driveinstile .Tyrian purple dye was scarce and only the elite could afford it, back in the day.

Sweet ride! The only contender in my book was that golden rod Riviera of the same vintage several months ( year ago) but I would have a hard time saying no to this especially if bought well

For 69 and maybe 70, a Cadillac exterior color was officially *Chateau Mauve Firemist * . Too bad such a variety of colors has become extinct, replaced by colors as bland as the vehicles wearing them.

Yeah Dad bought new caddy’s every other year or 3. He went from the ’69 coup D’Ville white w/ black top, red leather, I think looking at the back, like a one off type style, to another new ’73 coupe d’ville. That had that Firemist Blue metallic ext paint w/ white vinyl top, beautiful looking!

He never had to ask me, ever, while just 13yrs old, to wash his car virtually every saturday morning, prior to him coming home at noon from at work after a 1/2 day in at his welding shop. I appreciated that metallic beauty enough as if it was mine, that I never wanted to see him driving it dirty.
Washing the ’69, from 9-12yrs old, being white, was just ‘cleaning’ it, but that ’73 blue, just couldnt wait to see it dry in the sunlight when done!
That was the last of the Caddys for him as he then went to the ’75 Mk IV & thereafter, Lincolns.

Does this listing say how many actual miles are on the car or did I miss that? The photos leave much to be desired in evaluating condition. I have to ask, are we sure this is an original interior? It looks kind of plane for a Cadillac of this era. Finally I wasn’t sure what color mauve was either!

Bmw had a similar interior color in the 90’s called Aubergine (eggplant).

I prefer Aubergine — as opposed to ‘and how do like the eggplant upholstery’?

RICK W–I’m plumb crazy (sorry to glom off the Mopar fans) about Caddy’s Chateau Mauve Firemist and think it could be strongly augmented by the Aubergine interior of this car. And ‘French Fried and off to Versailles,’ ? -such stately gallows humor is rare. Poupon? I’m satisfied, for now, with my mayo based- custom dressings-.
