Mom Wants The Garage Back! 1970 Dodge Challenger

Well, we don’t know a lot about this 1970 Dodge Challenger other than their Mom wants her garage back! The seller had it on eBay before and the sale fell through. They tell us that they’ve had it for five years and had big plans but nothing’s happened. It’s for sale here on eBay and is located in Yonkers, New York. Right now bidding is at only $2,000 and there’s no reserve. But what are you getting for that money?

Sure, it’s not complete, and there’s rust. I wouldn’t expect anything else at the price. However, the car is said to be missing bumpers, lights and grille.  Frankly, it looks like it’s missing more than that, but I do see some nice original items like the wheels.

I can’t say the interior is inviting, especially with that large hole right where you’d put your heel to push down on the gas pedal. And that gas pedal is attached to a six cylinder engine, undoubtedly a slant six. There’s an automatic transmission, too. But when’s the last time you’ve seen a Challenger for less than $5,000 that was largely there? Besides, you can’t deny Mom her garage, right? Help this family out and take a look at this car–you wanted a chance to try your welding skills out, right?

Mon finallly said “get that sieve out of the garage and let me park a real car”.
When the writer says get the welders out I say weld to what.. This piece of rusted rot would cost far too much to be worthy of anyones time and expense..

A hopped up slant six would be pretty cool. You know those motors don’t die easily.

Funny, but it looks like Mom’s garage is Westchester Auto Repair Shop in Yonkers, NY.

I was thinking the same thing. That place doesn’t look like a regular house garage to me.

Probably a money maker if it was parted out.

You gotta know that road salt got the better of that car forty-six years ago. Betcha when you move it, it breaks in half. Buyer better bring a shovel and some trash bags. LOL

Perhaps it was acid-dipped to lighten it up.

It’s amazing I was in high school during the muscle car era…late 60s early 70s. A auto column shift w a 318ci was considered mom’s car. Nice to see survivors though. Anyway….

Okay, I like those cars IF they are in good shape and have a fairly stock factory high-perf engine. But, by the time you gave that one a complete makeover, you coulda bought a late-model(pre-owned, anyway) with a fuel-injected Hemi that would go fast, handle, and get decent mileage. So, go for it if it’s out of love; but, I’d pass.

My boss had a Dodge challenger with a 6 cylinder and 3 speed on the floor and he would let me drive it .It was a bad driving car.Bruce.

currently at $3,000. Seller seems surprised buyer flaked out. My experience with vehicle sales on FeeBay is typically most car and motorcycle sales are flakes. (parts not so much) But apparently eBay allows this nowdays. Went thru this last year when a seller refused to complete the deal. eBay said the seller had the right to back out. WTF?

I grew up with a ’70 Challenger R/T, convertible, 383 magnum with slapstick automatic. Candy apple red with white interior and white top. Man oh man, what I see lesser challengers go for at Mecum, makes me wish we still had her. But she was a northern car like this one and even after a thorough restoration, we still fought rust re-appearing. Good luck to whoever takes this one on.
