The Monterey Auto Week is a collection of events that have spawned from the Pebble Beach Concours. The first Pebble Beach Concours took place in 1950 as a small showing of cars to compliment the Pebble Beach Road Race. Today, events begin as early as the weekend prior to Concours Sunday. 2012 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Shelby Cobra and they were celebrated at every major event. Let me take you through just some of the events from this past week in the Monterey area. As I post each event we will add a link below, so you may want to bookmark this page.

FYI, There are auto events ALL week long in Carmel leading up to the Pebble Beach Concours which is held on the Pebble Beach Golf Course, first picture above. It is always on the last Sunday in August every year. However, its very expensive. The admission price this year was $225. but since it IS a charity event, it is tax deductible. It is a beautiful event, the best cars in the world, beautiful people in a fantastic setting. The Carmel costal scenery is probably some of the most spectacular in the world!
Small correction on the note above – The Pebble Beach Concours is held the third Sunday in August each year – FYI
The best event I’ve attend during Monterey Auto Week is the Concours on the Avenue in Carmel. Low-key, beautiful cars and owners who are happy to talk about their passion. It’s in Carmel, of course, and it’s free. It’s held on Tuesday during the weeklong extravaganza.
