Mudslinging Muscle: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro

Well there are many cars and many projects that some of us have yet to realize that we “need”. Well this mudslinging 1969 Chevrolet Camaro 4×4 is an interesting machine, which is certain to draw attention at the local mud bog. Built on a Chevrolet Blazer frame, this isn’t quite the muscle car, or truck, you may have had in mind. This rough and rowdy muscle machine is offered for the Buy It Now price of $12,800. Check it out here on eBay out of Logan, Ohio.

Power comes from a Chevy 350 V8, and powers a 4wd system that is mated to a Chevrolet Blazer chassis. Looking over the eBay ad, it is clear that this Camaro isn’t the most refined machine in the world. It was built for a purpose, and given enough effort for it to serve that purpose. The engine itself appears to be equipped with headers, an aluminum intake, and I would guess some sort of an aftermarket carb. Sadly there are no specs on either axle, or the transfer case and transmission.

Inside you find a view that is a little different than your standard Camaro. A custom sheet metal dash and interior is fitted with a partially assembled bolt-in Auto Power roll bar. I see no seats, but if I had to guess, there are a set of cheap buckets somewhere, or perhaps even a set of savvy Kirkey seats with it.

While many have varying ideas of what to do with a Camaro, this idea may have a few less people “bought in” compared to many. Now, I will admit that this looks like quite a fun machine, but it seems more of a novelty than anything. The body is rough, but the single color of paint makes it fairly presentable from long distances. Panel gaps, and body alignment isn’t the best, but I bet this Camaro can sling more mud than any other Camaro out there. The point is, this isn’t anywhere close to being a show car, and it isn’t set for being a street car either. It is in fact a large toy to have an absolute blast with. So the question is, would you romp around in the mud with this custom iconic 4×4?

I like the fact the owner has used this in the ‘bog. Think of this along the lines of the AFX and Tyco toy slot cars you may have had as a kid. The chassis is the same, but the Blazer body shell came off, and the Camaro body shell went on. Then its not so bad…
If this example was just for parades and cruises, that would be a shame. This is being used for a purpose; muddy fun! Much better than a base 6 or 8 Camaro being used for another Z or SS clone. Shoot, this makes them worth more.
I don’t mud bog, but I prefer this over cloning, tributes, etc.
Nice mid 80’s Oldsmobile hubcap/air cleaner lid!

The purpose is to have fun, something we’re losing fast in this world today. I came from N.Wis. and this is what us hicks do for fun. Just building it required hours in the garage by the converted barrel heater. Didn’t have to make sense, not for city slickers, and why we chose to live out in the boonies, so we can do stuff like this. And yes, alcohol fueled perhaps,, which I’m indifferent about. I don’t drink, but these folks aren’t hurting anyone, and guess what? They’re having fun.

While I respect the skill to build something like this as well as the amusement in doing so, I can not believe how dangerous it is to drive as intended. Too bad it isn’t still a nice little six popper three speed traveling the back roads with a 70 year old guy smiling and remembering his youth.

I agree with both of you. Not concerned about panel gaps, fit and finish with this one. Mud bogging is huge in Florida and here in Wisconsin. https://www.facebook.com/wisconsinmuddboggers/ Maybe Ken can chime in on the Florida bogs. I like this one, fun for sure but getting in would be a challenge now.

    Okay…

Being a 1969 camaro fan i hope someone buys it and yanks bottom of the car off to restore it….. 😏

FYI…Maybe this guys wife just found out the actual price(s) paid for all mudder parts on the Camaro and its a forced sell to get him out of the dog house🤣

I’d be willing to bet this guys wife was more than likely out in the garage helping him build it! Mud bogging is a sport with a fan base, and I’m sure the spectators love seeing something different and creative out there. Not motor sport that I’m into, but love it for what it is, hat off to the builder! GLWA

When I was younger in the 80s I spent a lot of time working on my Chevy 4×4 pickup for sand drags and mud bogs, what fun, but that was then. I now have a 69 camaro that I’ve been working on and off for 15 years so I’ve loved both, but mixing my camaro and my old 79 Chevy, even if I still had it, would be something that just never made sense to me. I saw many of these conversations back in the day and when it’s all said and done you end up with something that really isn’t good for much, you don’t have the utility of a truck which comes in handy even in strictly mud bogging trucks and you have a Camaro that you can only use a limited time, no car cruise, no road trips nothing that is much in the way of what car hobbyist generally like to do with their old classic cars, in essence you have killed two birds with one stone, good job!

I’m no Chevy guy but I’ve done plenty of hill climbing and mud bogging in the 70s & 80s and I like this thing , would love to own it if I was about 30 years younger.

Everybody has their ideas on what tickles them. If this showed up in my driveway I would change out those tires and look for something a bit MORE aggressive that would be matched to hearing and if that little 350 is stock, it’s not going to pull much gear or tires then the decision on modify the Existing engine or replace accordingly? Depending on how it’s set up now would dictate whether it’s a cheap fun project or an expensive fun project?

Can anybody identify the wheelcover being used as an air cleaner?

Big_Fun identified it correctly as an 80’s Oldsmobile wheel cover.

I actually hate to see a 69 camaro turned into this…..if you are going to make a Frankenstein car use a junky undesirable car like a mustang II or AMC Pacer.

Perfect use for a 69 commode… for the first time you can look at a 69 Camaro and say, ” never seen one of those before.
