Getting the call that it’s time to clear nine dusty classics out of a barn is one that most of us would answer. It happened to an enthusiast in Europe who had attempted to buy some cars from an individual years earlier but went home empty-handed. The next time he called, it was a different story. Find this epic barn find of vintage BMW 5-Series here on ClassicBahnStormers.com.
The new owner of these cars had previously attempted to buy a few older 7-Series from the same individual but had his advances spurned. Fortunately, all parties remained on good terms, and one fateful morning, the same seller called the buyer and said he was ready to part ways with some of his cars. That turned out to be all nine of his E28-chassis 5-Series sedans, including two desirable M535i’s.
Here’s that car, near as I can tell. It has the M-Tech body kit, flatface alloy wheels, rare moonroof, and of course the very desirable slim European-market bumpers. Other features include the rare headlight cleaning system and the standard “dogleg-style” manual gearbox that was exclusive to the M-Series vehicles.
These early M-cars remain quite desirable today, and still make excellent track vehicles. What the seller plans to do with his stash is unknown, but we remain hopeful he resists parting out these cars, no matter how much of a basketcase they may be underneath. For now, I’d just enjoy knowing I walked right into owning one of the best stashes worldwide of BMW’s classic E28-chassis 5-Series sedans.
Wow!
Those 2 or 3 rare M-Technic/M-Sport European models look pretty complete too. Very nice find, Glws.

In the first pic there are 12 cars
… but not 12 E28s.
All e28s were great cars. I had one. It was tough as nails. Sold it for an e34 in 2003. Still have the e34.
