Nite Edition: 1991 Ford Bronco

Not much time remains on this limited-edition Ford Bronco Nite edition, listed with a clean bill of health by the seller and with the reserve unmet. These were strictly cosmetic in nature, but the Nite editions are so rarely seen that buying one solely for a few trim modifications is likely justifiable behavior by a Ford truck collector. Find this 1991 Bronco here on eBay with a Buy-It-Now of $14,995 and with bidding just over $3K at the moment.

The Nite package was pretty basic. According to Ford150.net, “The Nite package was a special edition package that was available in 1991 and 1992. The package was for the most part an appearance package, with the most noticeable features being the black paint & trim, and special multicolor stripe. The Nite package (available on the XLT Lariat truck) also included 235/75/15 white-letter tires, alloy wheels, and sport suspension.”

Otherwise, it was your basic Bronco. This one makes do with the standard-issue 302 V8 which is said to run well. The seller purchased this truck as part of an extended vacation with his son, driving it from Oregon to Kansas and reporting no issues along the way. The A/C is still cold and it’s been stored in a climate-controlled garage ever since, and clearly hasn’t spent much time off road. New tires, belts and hoses round out the recent maintenance.

The true connoisseur will want to add an F150 Nite Edition to their stable if they end up winning this Bronco, though the current rate of bidding makes a sale unlikely at the current ask. Broncos in general command good money in this kind of shape, but the big dollar sales go to low mileage survivors. Though this Nite Edition is undoubtedly a near-extinct specimen, the demand for this Bronco versus a non-Nite edition with 20,000 miles is likely miles apart.

Google search of the Vin shows he paid $8550 or less in 2015 😁

I had an ’85 XLT, and I had very little to complain about. It served me well for 300k miles. Mine had a 351 H/O with a 4bbl carb. It took a while to get it running real well but that also included a little de-smogging. I still remember that A.I.R. system that had the thin-walled steel pipe that hooked up to the back of the heads. The pipe cracked and I managed to effectively plug the ports off. It was great after that. I wish I still had it.

The ’91s are particularly hard to find. A cool find – thanks for sharing.

Alex – in 1987 the XLT package was the mid level trim package. Not as plain as a custom and not as fancy as an Eddie Bauer.

The Nite edition was never offered on the bronco in 1991 it was only offered in 1992 with the round nose. 1991 was ONLY the F150 Regular Cab. This is a clone truck not an original. The decals are easy enough to buy.

Interesting. I can’t find the listing on Ebay anymore to find the VIN. I did find a few other ’91s that are claimed to be Nites so I ordered a Marti to see if it helps clear things up.

Parts were easy enough to get back in the 90s when the trucks were new several clones poped up in 1991. Select dealers would apply the Nite Graphics and the blacked out trim to Customer Broncos for an extra charge but they were never officially offered on the bronco body untill 1992. I myself am in the process of completing a NITE conversion on My 1990 Bronco. Here is a refrence off of an F150 Forum and technical site.

I just got my Marti Report back on one of the alleged ’91 Nite Broncos I found on the internet.

Per the report, Ford made 393 1991 Nite Broncos.

    Case closed.

you can say Case Closed but my Father worked for Ford in the Deerborn F150 Plant 1987-1994 and he confirmed the Nite Edition was not offered on Broncos Until 1992 in 91 it was only offered on regular cab XLT Long Bed F150 and the offering was expanded in 1992 to all F150 Configurations and Broncos however Several ford authourized franchisee Dealers did apply graphics to standard broncos in 1991 but they were not Factory made. they were Dealer retrofits. the Nite Edition was discontinued in 1993 to introduce the “sport” package which kept the body color trim and bumpers as well as added several other color options and removed the special graphics

All good, David. We’ll agree to disagree on this one :).

I concur with your Bronco Sport analysis.

Hey Todd, is there any way to tell if a Bronco is a Nite directly by the VIN or is a Marti Report the only way to go as far as you know?

To the best of my knowledge, you can only find that out via a Marti.
