No Reserve Custom: 1960 Ford Fairlane

The 1960 Ford lineup represented a major styling shift, with longer, lower bodies and a look that bridged the flamboyant 1950s and the cleaner designs that would define the early 1960s. The new look made these cars popular with both hot rodders and low riders. This two-door 1960 Fairlane is somewhere in the middle, with Cragar-style wheels, airbags for a lower ride height, and period-style pinstriping. It’s a great-looking ride and is being offered here on eBay as a no-reserve auction!

This Fairlane is in Orange, California, and is being sold by Just Donated. We’ve featured a few of their finds over the years, but this one is a real headscratcher. The car is described as a 1960 Ford Fairlane V8 Automatic and is offered with a clean title. And the listing shows 29,100 miles, though prospective buyers should verify the mileage. This seems like a fairly desirable vehicle for someone to just donate, but I’m sure there’s more to the story.

Power comes from a V8 engine paired with an automatic transmission. There’s no word on the engine’s specs, but it looks to be a very clean build. Originally, this would have been equipped with a 292-cui engine rated at 185 horsepower. The V8/automatic combination should prove to be a great option for cruising. And the seller notes that the airbags function, and they provided a video of it running and driving. The engine sounds good, and it appears to be ready to drive.

The red-and-white interior pairs well with the paint and red pinstriping. The color combination feels period-correct and gives the car the kind of visual appeal you expect from an early-1960s American cruiser. It would be great to know some of the car’s history. Given how clean it looks, it seems likely it’s a modern build, but it definitely has a period look.

One of the most interesting aspects is that this one is being offered without a reserve. At the time of review, bidding had already reached $7,250 with 30 bids and nearly 200 watchers, so there’s definitely a lot of interest here. As with any custom car, interested bidders should inspect it closely and ask about rust and any issues the seller is aware of.

If you are looking for a performance-focused muscle car, this Fairlane may not be the classic for you. But if your tastes lean toward clean styling, plenty of power for cruising, and potentially a good price, this might just be the find for you. Would you take a chance on this Ford?
