No Reserve Squarebody: 1985 Dodge Ramcharger

Squarebodies of almost every stripe are sought after these days, whether it’s a Ramcharger or a Bronco. They’ve become a bit evergreen at this point, with values staying consistent and always edging a bit higher in overall sales results. That doesn’t mean deals don’t exist, however, as this 1985 Dodge Ramcharger listed here on eBay is offered with no reserve and bidding sits at just $1,901 at the moment, which seems quite low – even for a driver like this.

Sure, it has some bumps and bruises like a melted turn signal and a twisted rear bumper, but overall it remains quite clean. Given it resides in the Pacific Northwest, it’s almost a certainty that rust isn’t a major issue, and the bodywork seems to support that claim. The gold and black two-tone scheme may be original but I would assume that just like the odometer that has rolled over, it’s safe to assume many details are no longer factory correct. Regardless, the paint scheme is attractive, and it looks great with those aftermarket wheels.

Under the hood is the venerable 5.2L V8 engine paired to an automatic transmission. Along with their killer looks and perfect 4WD stance, the mechanical systems on trucks like the Ramcharger and Bronco are delightfully simple and you can find parts for them practically anywhere. Drive it to the desert, to the beach, or the city streets – your local Napa will be able to address any mechanical needs that arise. The seller notes there is an exhaust leak and the brakes could be stronger.

The black carpet may not be original, and I’m not sure what’s going on with the seat covers/upholstery; there’s an aspect of it that looks aftermarket to me, but I have no proof of this. Regardless, the good news is the interior remains in entirely usable condition, and this truck is perfect for using as-is or making some basic improvements to that will help it present far better than it does now without breaking the bank.

Did the owner have it parked too close to the bonfire, after a couple of wobble pops?

Squarebody? It doesn’t look like anything GM to me.

I was thinking cam, intake, carb and headers really can wake these engines up, rather start with a 360 but…Then I took another look and see it’s already got most of that stuff already, can’t tell about the cam but I wish it was closer to me I would definitely be interested, heck the almighty ram hood ornament makes it worth a look

No mention was made of after market cam so all mods. Are most likely bolt on which really adds nothing to performance.

It’s just a honest old dodge that needs a new home. You want perfect paint a bigger engine1. How about the fact 2500 will probably bring this thing home. Then you can do everything you want and still afford to. If it was perfect than it would be 10k like everything else that gets posted or higher. I say take the ram and run.
