This 1968 Chevrolet Corvette caught my eye a few days ago, not only for its gorgeous colors but also because it comes with a factory hardtop that was covered in dust. The Corvette features the desirable 4-speed manual paired to a numbers-matching 327 mill, and the car looks quite clean for being laid up for 20 years. Find it here on craigslist with a $24,800 asking price.
The Corvette is located in Rochester, New York, which explains why someone dared to roll this car out into the snow. The seller notes that the Corvette is a “must see” thanks to its original condition and seemingly clean bodywork, with no evidence of rust that the Northeast is famous for. The slim chrome bumpers appear to have good luster and the white top similarly show no signs of major damage.
The interior remains in outstanding condition, with the blue theme continuing form the outside. The bucket seats show no signs of excessive wear, and seeing the row-it-yourself option makes this droptop ‘Vette practically irresistible. That soft top couldn’t have spent much time in the down position, either, as I see little to no evidence of damage caused by prolonged sun exposure.
The best part for me is this vintage hard top, painted to match and coated in dust. This was a very well optioned car when new, seemingly with all the pieces an enthusiast owner would want. Some maintenance work has been done, including new front brakes/calipers/master cylinder and a tune-up. The 4-speed and matching engine, along with the hardtop and clean overall condition, make this convertible a tempting purchase – is the asking price a fair ask?
Nice, nice, very nice!
Nice car with a fair price.
Lovely configuration and from my birth year! Not too far south of the border too… But it’s tax season – sigh.
A big round of applause for a Craig’s List seller actually pulling the car outside for better pictures and even in the snow! Unbelievable…
Excuse me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t this posted about a month ago ? It’s a beautiful Vette, probably well worth it !

(Hard to get it right on my phone)
Had one of these that I resurrected from dead — same drivetrain and fresh red paint over new black interior with side pipes and both tops. Probably my favorite driver’s car and turned heads wherever it went — even 20 years ago. Let someone talk me out of it for $10K which was, at the time, very good money for the car. One of the few I wish I had back.
Personally if buying a C3, I’d look for a 69. Tried to buy one in the 70’s and it ran like a scalded dog, plus IMO the 69 was substantially less problematic than the 68’s were.
Looks good but overpriced IMO but that’s a personal thing.
Angry Mike is correct. After this first posted, I sent an email to the seller asking about records to confirm miles and condition…zero reply. That may be why it’s still here.
A real beauty no doubt. I hope it is being driven on a totally flat piece of ground because there is no way that power to rear weight distribution can move otherwise.
My brother bought one of these new, same color, also had hardtop, but if I remember right, had white interior and a 390 hp 427 with 4 speed. He traded it for a new 69 yellow coupe with a 435 hp 427 that was nothing but problems.
