The Buick Grand Sport is a cool, and not so common, a staple in muscle car history. This very solid driver condition car is a numbers matching vehicle and is ready to roll. It is unclear on this Buick’s history, but it appears to be an older restoration, that still shows well. With some recent work, I would say this Buick looks like a sharp uncommon muscle car that you could enjoy without fear of it being too perfect to drive. Fairly clean, but not perfect, the engine bay presents well enough with the 350 V8 in place. The cool GS dual scoop hood and components are accounted for and in place. The paint job on the engine isn’t the greatest, but again, it is good enough to drive and enjoy as is. Claimed as a numbers matching car, you could enjoy this machine as is, and if it really bothered you, a restoration could happen down the road. One very good aspect is that the factory Posi Traction is still in place as well. There is only one thing that strikes me odd. A lot of front end components have been installed on this GS as if this car was possibly involved in a front end collision. The front bumper, grille, and air conditioning setup are all new, along with fresh tires and brakes. The only drawback to the air conditioning is that it is not currently charged, but seems to be all in place awaiting nothing else.
Fitted with all new interior, it is easy to believe considering how clean everything looks inside. The door panels and seats look brand new, and the dash looks very nice as well. In fact, there is very little to nitpick about the interior of this Buick, other than a few pebbles in the driver side floorboard. The upholstery although new, looks like it was installed by a professional, as there are no wrinkles or waves along the piping edge or the sides of the seat.
The exterior appears great from the photos, but the seller rates the paint as an 8 out of 10. If you look closely at the auction photos, you will see that the seller has another GS, as well as a couple of other neat cars. The underbody photos really instill some level of confidence in this car, as the underside of this muscle car appears to be in excellent. There are no major apparent flaws, other than some minor orange peel like finish on the paint. Now for most, that really may not be a concern. There is even some possibility that it could be polished out if you are brave enough to give it a try. All in all a sharp-looking car that is sure to draw interest where ever you take it. There was a local guy years ago that had one exactly like this, minus the spoiler on the side of his garage out in the weather. Never knew what became of it. I have owned several GS’s and these 350’s were no slouch. They would take punishment as well. Unless the frame is bent, it seems on track to be a good buy.
I’d love it. Especially with my right foot pushing down on the skinny pedal.
Years ago, a neighbor had one: gray with black interior and black vinyl top; NO spoiler. Very lively car right up to the point the rear end went out. Found out that the rear was not the same as in a Chevelle due to the spring mount from what I remember. Anyway, got the right stuff and swapped out the rear and got it back in the game. Neighbors was a 4 speed from what I remember so it took some bearing.
Friend in high school had one – a 1970 with the 350 Ram-Air – and it hauled ass.
I had one just like this. I beat alot of 77-78 Trans Ams back then. Sleeper.
God, I hate that spoiler. Somebody should give whoever put that on a good hard whack on the rear end with a Year One catalog. It’s probably not even made in the USA.

Agreed, Superdessucke; I don’t care for the spoiler, either. Overall, a very nice car, there’s a lot to like with this one. The 350 should have enough to give you a thrill or two as well, even with the automatic. I’d prefer buckets and a center console but the bench and column shift will do. Very nice classic muscle that you can enjoy as soon as you get it home.
All that’s missing is the Chinese knock off hood tach to give it a true “Day 4” appearance. Ugh. Thank God it was spared that indignity.
He has 3 GS for sale , this one has the vin info hidden. Other 2 vin is shown on ebay . With the front clip so poorly aligned, plain Jane interior , and hidden vin I am calling this one a skylark cloned to a GS .
I wonder, too about originality. Note the pre-heater duct on the left manifold that goes to…no where. As for “no leaks” that rear pinion seal is tossing one heck of a lot of differential oil on to the muffler. Price is okay, but again, with no inspection, this is like bidding on a ‘grab bag’ prize.
