One Owner: 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This Ford Mustang Cobra, located in Dawsonville, Georgia, was sold new to the seller’s Father in 1993. The odometer reflects 99,000 miles so the car has been driven and used over its life. The Cobra is up for auction here on eBay and has a current bid price of $12,600 with two days remaining.

The grey interior looks nice except for it is dirty and the driver seat bolster is worn through to the foam. The Cobra spent its first 15 years in Texas and the sun damage to the clearcoat is evident. The original dealer paperwork comes with the sale of the car. The seller states that the area at the bottom of the rear window is rusty and there appears to be water damage to the carpet below the hatch.

The Ford Mustang Cobra was a special car and developed 238 horsepower from the 5.0 liter fuel-injected engine. The 1993 model was the first year for the Cobra and continued until 2004. Besides special engine upgrades, the Cobra received an upgraded suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, and an improved transmission.

Cobras received 17-inch aluminum wheels with unidirectional tires in 1993. 0-60 times were estimated to be 5.9 seconds which was pretty quick compared to the past decade. Almost 80,000 Mustang Cobras were built during their production run. I have never ridden in one but would imagine that it is a fun car to own.

I like fox cobras but 13k for a fair condition one is a little too much… but this things are going up in price.

What a rough example. I remember when nice ones were under $10k and this one is already 5 figures. But everything Fox Stang 5.0 today is overpriced (shudda kept mine).

BTW, Ford rated these at 235 horsepower. Not sure where you get 238.

Something struck me when looking at and thinking about this car. It has not led an easy life, maybe it has even been abused. So it will take quite a bit of work (translation: money) to bring it back. But you know, it is a Fox Body which can probably justify the work economically. Not long ago “restoring a Fox Body” (not modifying or restomodding, that’s not what I am thinking about), even a Cobra, would have been nothing more than a labor of love.

Whether one thinks Fox Mustangs are or are not overpriced, steadily increasing values are where their market has been heading.

Yeup! Ppl sure miss an original concept of stang’ IK modern ones aren’t retro but you can see how they try to mimick past gens, the fox was it’s own thing.

So refreshing to see one a little beat up and without delivery miles. I think this price is absurd to the point of laughability (though I’m honestly starting to worry that some people know more about the future value of money than I do). But I’m glad to see one that was driven and beaten around a little bit!

I thought 1993 fox didn’t have armrests in order to save weight? Something about this one doesn’t look quite right??
