From the moment it was purchased in January, 1973, the owner of this Chevelle kept it safely in their garage. Unfortunately, they are no longer with us and his widow is selling the car. It’s listed for sale here on eBay and is currently bid to just over $4,000 with no reserve. (Apparently there is one now!) The Chevelle is located in Mundelein, Illinois. The only real visible modification from stock on this car is the set of rally wheels, but the original steel wheels and hubcaps are included.
Body colored bumpers were a thing back then, and they do help the huge bumpers blend in with the rest of the car. We’re told there’s no visible rust and that the only paint that isn’t original is some touch up work done by the dealer. The vinyl top is even original.
The inside looks every bit as good as the outside. It sure doesn’t look like 100,845 miles, does it! Power steering and power locks highlight the interior.
The 350 cubic inch V8 has recently been rebuilt, and yes, that is air conditioning you see. We aren’t told whether the air conditioning is working or not.
Even the trunk looks great. This is a one-owner, nice and desirable vehicle that’s at auction at no reserve–what more do you need? I hope one of you comes home with this great find!
Great car! This one looks fantastic and brings back many memories.
We had ’74 and ”76 Malibu coupes like this one, they were comfortable without being too large. The ’74 had a 400 small block and swivel bucket seats.
*Now has a reserve.
I actually like the S3 Chevelle’s. There are millions of the 2’s and more of the 1’s. Every once in a while you will see a 454/4speed.
Very nice car that would surely make a good driver. Certainly don’t see many of this year in this great of shape.
I’d love to have this! Something you don’t see very often, probably never going to be worth much but I grew up with this body style and brings back great memories.
Is the rear bumper supposed to be blue? I don’t recall that being the design originally. I could be wrong. Anyway, I like it and if I were in the market I try for it. I’d guess the price should fall between 8K and 10K. Just a guess but, we’ll see.
Could have bought one in 84 ln this condition for 500 bucks. Wish I had.
Nice car, just add corvette rally rims and would look better
Jamie, NO RESERVE?? It’s at $5,100 and “reserve not met”.
I’ve always liked the Laguna nose, really makes a big difference in the look of the car.
All I can tell you is that I didn’t see one when I listed the car yesterday. I already corrected the post. Maybe I need to get my glasses checked!
I owned a yellow ’73 Laguna my girlfriend called “Colonel Mustard’. Loved that car but abused it terribly; especially when I flipped the lid on the air filter to grab more air and horsepower for the 4 barrel carb. Best memory was a 1979 2AM race with a ’73 Barracuda on 1-20 between Bossier City, La and Minden, La (30 miles) yelling at the ‘Cuda on my CB radio. And yes. I won..
Of course you won…the other guy was driving a Mopar. J/K guys.
Found a vintage picture..
Clean car! I had a 73 elcamino 454/4spd and a s-3 laguna.back in the day. Liked them both-just BIG!
Wow is that sucker clean! My first car was a ’74 white over maroon. Fun car.
Strangely enough, both sets of my grandparents wound up buying ’73 Chevelles in the same metallic brown color, despite living on opposite sides of the country. One was a Laguna like this one, with wire wheel covers and the super-cool swivel buckets. The other was a more basic Malibu coupe, and was the first car I ever rode in. Ever since I’ve had a warmth for the ’73 Chevys that goes beyond logic or reason, and it’s a great example of how memory largely shapes car enthusiasm.
i sold this 73 SS i fell on hard times …this original short block with 204 dart heads street cam flat top pistons ect: ect: she was bored 30 over stainless steel glass packs 2-1/2 ” pipes she is loud ..but i blew off my buddys 70 road runner 440 4-speed ..he thought i was running Nos lol i love these cars 73 and 77’s and the 65 & 66 impala’s :)
Wow !!! Just sweet. Sorry you had to part with her.
The one to have was the type S-3, with the floor mounted shifter and swivel seats.
The color combo on the outside looks great. The light blue on the inside is in great shape, but he two blue shades don’t really compliment each other. To me this car would have looked fantastic with the tuxedo interior. White bucket seat interior with black dash and carpets.
