One-Owner Survivor: 1994 Camry LE Wagon

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Once upon a time, station wagons were the most popular choice here in the USA for moving kids, dogs, camping equipment, groceries, furniture, band gear, and stuff needed for indoor and outdoor projects. And in their heyday, station wagons were offered in compact, mid-size, and full size versions. Even Japan’s popular-selling Toyota Camry and Honda Accord offered a 4-door station wagon option for about ten years here in the States before being dropped due to anemic sales (thanks to the more popular minivan and and crossover SUV). Here’s a clean survivor, a 1994 Toyota Camry LE Wagon, that looks very good for a 31-year-old station wagon. It’s in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, with a $7,200 price tag and is listed for sale here on Facebook Marketplace. Thanks to Jack M. for spotting this clean Camry Wagon and sending it our way!

In addition to being a reliable Toyota, this Camry also has two other plusses: it’s a one-owner car and it’s a California car. The body looks straight and rust free and it’s wearing the original factory goldish/beige paint that looks presentable in my book. The seller says “it has some minor bumps and bruises, wearing 30 years of patina, but it’s in great condition overall.”

The beige interior (which looks almost identical to the ’97 Camry I once had), is in excellent condition for its age. The rugged cloth front and back seats aren’t showing wear and, to my surprise, there’s even a third row rear-facing seat. Given the Camry’s width, it could probably seat two kids, and is upholstered in vinyl. Like the other seats in this Wagon, it’s in great condition. In fact, it may not have ever been sat on. The headliner, carpet, instrument panel and dash are also very clean and look almost like new.

Under the hood, it appears this Camry Wagon is powered by a 3.0L V6 engine. It is front wheel drive, has 143,000 original miles on it (just getting broken in for a Camry), and is mated to an automatic transmission. Considering the hard life most station wagons endured, this is one exceptionally clean, well cared for survivor. I still see the third generation ’92-’96 Camrys on the road, but they’re sedans, I haven’t seen a Camry Wagon in a long time. This is the first ’94 Camry Wagon featured on Barn Finds, and it might just be the nicest one in the States. It has certainly lived a pampered, sheltered life.

Donated away the last of our long roofs this past summer. This Camry always intrigued me – we had an earlier sedan which was quite competent for our needs.

The one Camry seen even less was the coupe, which seemed to be developed without a sense of the market.

I always loved the double wiper arms on the rear window. Ugly, but if you want visibility they make sense.

The styling is awkward and I question the wisdom of having 3 rows in a long FWD vehicle.

The price is betting on somebody finding this irresistible but you can do much better for $7200. Like a minivan or even a M-B E-Class if you wanna put on the ritz a little bit.

Nice to see another wagon. I had a customer an elderly lady who had one, it was a four cylinder with 330,000 miles on it, she bought it new. It was wrecked 3 times and she had us repair it out of pocket. I advised her to replace it as she was putting too much money into it. She refused and had it until she passed. I do not know what her family did with it, it could still be in her garage as the house is unoccupied. I need to snoop around, see if I can locate it.

We bought one new in ’93 and had it for 10 years. Great car until tranny went at about 120k. It wasn’t worth much back then, so we donated it to a technical high school so kids could learn auto mechanics.
