One Owner With 32k Original Miles! 1990 Chevrolet Corvette

By 1990, Chevrolet’s C4 Corvette was a pretty good alternative for potential buyers seeking a two-seat car with performance credentials that also served as a practical long-distance cruiser. What makes them attractive propositions today is that good examples remain relatively affordable. On the subject of good examples, our feature car is a real gem. It is hardly surprising given that it is a one-owner classic that has been treated with respect since new. All good things must come to an end, with the owner deciding that the time is right for the Corvette to find a new home. Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this classic is listed for sale here on Craigslist. The owner has set the sale price at $16,360. However, he may entertain trades for the right vehicle. I have to say a big thank you to Barn Finder T.J for referring this excellent survivor to us.

Finished in Turquoise Metallic, the owner claims that this Corvette wears a rare color. While Quasar Blue Metallic and Competiton Yellow cars are more scarce, out of Chevrolet’s total production figure of 23,646 Corvettes in 1990, a mere 589 wore Turquoise. That’s a take-up rate of around 2.5%, meaning that you won’t stumble across a similar car every day. It is a one-owner survivor that has been garage-kept since Day One, making its overall condition no surprise. The paint shines beautifully, with no visible flaws in the panels or paint. The owner describes its general condition as showroom, and when you closely examine the supplied photos, it is hard to argue that point. He ordered the ‘Vette with a removable roof panel, and examining the interior reveals no water damage indicative of failing seals. The exterior trim and plastic are excellent, with no evidence of deterioration or color inconsistency. The 17″ factory alloy wheels can be prone to stains if accumulated brake dust is not removed regularly, but that isn’t an issue here. With spotless tinted glass, the exterior of this Corvette seems to need nothing.

If there is a single aspect of this Corvette that impresses me above all others, it is its interior condition. The seats are upholstered in Black leather, and with heavy contours and bolstering, the outer edges are prone to wear and deterioration. That fate hasn’t befallen this car, with no issues worth a mention. The remaining interior trim and upholstery appear excellent. There is no deteriorating plastic or evidence of neglect, abuse, or aftermarket additions. Examining the original Window Sticker reveals that the owner had a soft spot for creature comforts. It shows this interior is equipped with climate-control air conditioning and power assistance for the locks, windows, seats, and exterior mirrors. When you add the premium Delco-Bose sound system with AM/FM radio, cassette player, and CD player, life on the move should be a pretty pleasant experience.

Tilting the hood forwards on this Corvette reveals the 5.7-liter TPI V8 producing 245hp. In keeping with its luxury leanings, this classic also features a four-speed automatic transmission, power steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, and the optional 3.07 rear end. These components combine to allow the 3,223lb Corvette to storm through the ¼ mile in 14.9 seconds. Opting for the six-speed manual would have wiped around a ½-second off that figure, but it seems the owner preferred to follow the self-shifting path. The owner claims that the ‘Vette has a genuine 32,957 miles showing on its odometer, and given its overall condition and known history, he may hold verifying evidence. He doesn’t supply any specific information on how it runs or drives, but his general attitude in the listing suggests that potential buyers could fly in and drive this gem home.

There’s a lot to like about this 1990 Corvette. Its presentation is difficult to fault, and its relatively rare paint color helps it stand out. The low odometer reading aids its cause, while its unmolested status and desirable options represent further bonuses. Above all else, it is an affordable vehicle, and with values climbing significantly recently, it could represent a sound investment. It has only been on the market a short time, and I suspect that the owner won’t be waiting long for someone to rock up on his doorstep with the cash to take this survivor home.

While I do like the color (def ’90’s), with only 589 units what are the chances we’d have two posted on BF in recent days?

Very nice color, and by 1990 Corvettes were beginning to show signs of life after being so helplessly “smogged ” during the 80s. The only thing to watch out for these is the instrument cluster. They have LCD panels that if they go bad, good luck finding replacements.

So a boost in values. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Good if you want to unload one, bad if you want one. Good if you are a flipper, bad if you are a lover of these cars. Prices on things can’t keep going up forever, the system will break.

The 1990 was the first year of the hybrid digital/analog dashboard replacing the “Atari” display of earlier C4s. It is reliable and there are plenty of places offering rebuild services.

There is at least one or two places that repair/rebuild the Atari dashes yet. I had to have mine redone the other year due to a burnt ground connector and it’s worked fine since.

No problem with the dash issues , plenty of help on line and parts to upgrade and keep them going

Adam, all C4s came with a standard, body-color painted, removable targa-type roof panel. The only thing you could “order” was the option of a blue or bronze glass depending on model year.

    Nice car! Should sell quick!
Probably Zoomie owned as CS, CO and FL are prime locations. I was a USAF contractor and worked with pilots and professionals who took care of equipment. Probably the most professional people on the planet.

    I’m not surprised.

I had a boxster for a few years, beautiful speed yellow with black interior
I loved it but engine access was next to impossible
My replacement clamshell low kilometer corvette 89, gives me easy engine access but no frunk ( front trunk) or trunk as the porsche has 2 trunks
Its a nice car but i will be trying the c5 , because of the trunk and rear mounted transmission
So many cars but not enough time !
