As far as old farm rides go, it doesn’t get much better than this. For sale is a 1942 International Harvester K-2 pickup with a long bed. This three quarter ton truck is at a current bid price of $1,000. It has a clean Canada title. Mileage is listed at 12,255 and it is located in Winnipeg, Canada. You can view more here on eBay.
It has a flathead straight 6 engine connected to a 4-speed manual transmission. It is only rear wheel drive. According to the listing, it turns freely and could start with some convincing. Rust is noted to be on the bottom edges of the fenders. While the truck does not run, the tires do hold air, so it could at least roll if need be.
Sadly, no front windshield resides on the truck. The side and rear glass are present. Inside the seats are springs. Very few shreds of fabric still drape over the coils. The floor is removed to expose the transmission and frame. For looking decent on the outside, this truck lacks the same kind of appeal on the inside.
The seller states that they can help you with transporting the car over the border and providing all necessary documents to title the truck in a state of your choice. Pembina, North Dakota is listed as their drop off spot if you are the winning bidder. It was last on the road in 1975 and has been parked in a barn ever since.
Here’s something for someone who wants a little more of a challenge. Replacement parts aren’t that easy to come by but are still around if you look hard for them. Old Binders are gaining in popularity and are becoming more popular at the shows. Personally, I like them and sure wouldn’t kick this one off my driveway. None too fast on the road but they’ll get you there. I might add that while this one is likely a 213 CID engine, someone could’ve dropped in a GD 232 which is a little more powerful but not faster.
Nice truck!
My friend had one of these at his cottage and we used it to pull stumps out of the lake with a steel cable and other odd jobs. These are tough trucks.
So, no one cares about the IH listed… Well, that’s okay. It sold for $3,250.00. Personally, I like the basic truck…just too much work for me.
