Buyers seeking V8 power could select a 301 cubic inch Pontiac V8 rated at 135 horsepower, or a 305 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 generating 145 horsepower. Higher output choices included the 350 cubic inch V8 delivering between 155 horsepower and 170 horsepower, alongside the range topping 400 cubic inch V8 rated up to 200 horsepower in its high performance configuration in the Formula and Trans Am. The exterior was repainted approximately 15 years ago by a professional body shop in Baldwin Park, California, where the shell was fully disassembled, prepped, and painted. Historically, 1977 represented a record setting production period for the Firebird lineup. Pontiac produced a total of 192,371 Firebirds across all submodels for the model year. Recent maintenance on this Firebird includes a rebuilt carburetor, a new master cylinder, a fresh radiator, new front and rear brakes, updated fuel lines, a new serpentine belt kit, a new harmonic balancer, and a complete suspension overhaul utilizing new shocks, upper A arm bushings, and rear leaf springs.

I normally gloss over all the Firebirds on these pages, especially the Trans Ams, but this one caught my eye. Worth every bit of nineteen five. The interior resto is especially nice.

It looks like a small block Chevy to me, I’m gonna say a 305. I could be wrong, but I’m not.
Agreed with Will here its a chevy 305 or 350 you can tell buy the valve covers.
I remember the Pontiac 350. I’m a Pontiac guy and we fondly referred to it as the, “Pooch Fifty”. I have a ’74 TA and ran a 350 while the 455 was getting built. I was so happy to get the 455 done. No offense Pontiac guys but that 350 was weak. I’d rather run the 301 to be truthful.
It is a 305…by 1977…it was the base motors in f bodies.

This one looks abasing inside and out. Worth the price. My first car was this exact vehicle, except in Buccaneer Red(?). It turned heads, but the 350 was a weight. Wish I’d have had it performance enhanced.
The VIN is a C in the engine place, which meant it was a Buick 231 V-6 when it was new.

Even if it is a smaller or non-original engine, all the work has been done on this one. Next owner has a sweet tur-key ride with no physical effort needed.
It said in the article it is a 350 engine with a 350 trany . With a lot of maintaince done. Dive it as is and have fun . The only thing I would do is take out the catilic converters and strait pipe it . Doing that alone will wake this engine up. Or dual exhaust. It is werth the 19000 asking price.
