Paris Edition: 1980 Cadillac Eldorado

A car like this 1980 Cadillac Eldorado Paris Edition isn’t for the faint of heart, those who are trying to hide away or fade into the woodwork. This unusual custom can be found here on craigslist in Waxahachie, Texas, around 30 miles south of Dallas. The seller is asking $10,500 for this custom Cadillac. Thanks to Ikey H. for sending in this tip!

It seems like I’ve seen this car before. Maybe it’s because about a year and a half ago, Andrew Tanner wrote about one of the other cars that this seller has listed for sale that you can see in the last photo of the craigslist link. Here is that 1979 Cadillac Seville Opera Coupe on Barn Finds from November of 2017. They’re now asking $9,500 for that Seville compared to $12,500 when Andrew wrote about it. Ok, back to this Eldorado.

This car looks like it’s in fantastic condition. It’s a Paris Edition touring car made by ACC – American Custom Coachworks, LTD in Hollywood, CA. I can’t really comment on the design or style at all because I like Subaru 360s and other oddball vehicles, who am I to say whether a car is well-designed or not? This Eldorado has had one repaint and the vinyl top is new.

Now that’s an interior. Red leather, it doesn’t get any better than that for me. Wait, we weren’t talking about what I like or don’t like. It’s hard to argue with the quality of a Cadillac interior from any era (waiting for the Cimarron comments) and this Eldorado interior is no exception. Gorgeous. The back seats look like they have never been sat in and they may not have been.

The engine should be an Oldsmobile 350 cubic-inch V8 with 160 hp and 265 ft-lb of torque. This car has had a lot of maintenance work done, including new CV axles, new lower ball joints, new load-adjusting rear springs, new brake pads, and all new fluids. It has new air shocks and a new A/C compressor and drier with R12 freon. It also has newer Hankook whitewall tires. It sounds like it’s ready to go. Have any of you heard of a Paris Edition Eldorado?

I don’t know who bought these new, but I know what crowd liked them after a few years. They had names like “Huggy Bear”, wore plumed hats and hung out on inner city street corners with their “ladies”. By then, the car had 2″ whitewalls and a TV antenna on the trunk.

I have just one question: Where’s the coin slot on this thing? I want to hear some music!

    A 1980 Eldorado would have a Cadillac 368. The Olds 350 was 1979 only.

5.7 in California, 6.0 elsewhere. Based on the location of the AC compressor, this does indeed appear to be the 5.7.

CCFisher, remember this car was converted in california when new.

I am sure they used California spec cars they got from a local dealer for the conversion then they sent them all over the country.

In 1980, all Eldorados except for California got the 6.0 litre 368 engine. California cars got the 5.7 350. If this car has the 5.7 it must have originated from Cali.

Just who at GM thought this would be a good look for a car? Well, I guess Cadillac has always been over-the-top with fins and other nonsense. I’d be embarrassed to own one.

GM had nothing to do with this.

This was a private conversion company.

Rather than the Paris Edition, are you sure it’s not the Paris Hilton Edition?

They could gone super excess and hung a Continental kit on the back as well, maybe with some gold side pipes and long trumpet horns on the hood. What’s that old saying? “Nothing exceeds like excess!”

Anyone else read the title as “Parts Edition: 1980 Cadillac Eldorado”?

Scotty, I was with ya until I figured out I had misread.

80 Eldorado could have had the 350 olds gas or diesel or the cad 368.

There’s a pale blue one of these in Adelaide, South Australia, the usual comment when it rolls up is, AAAAGH! How ‘fershluggin’ ugly is that thing?, or words to that effect.
They say if you’re gonna make a statement, make a big one, but no thanks, not in a million years with this thing.

There are tasteless “customs”, and there is this. I mean, really. I can think of several other American made “look at me” cars. And passing another vehicle would be dangerous with that blind spot from the bowels of Hades. I drove a “normal” Biarritz once, and it was a really car. I would guess that one could assume that the back seat would look like it had never been occupied for a good reason.

The car seems to sit much higher in picture 3 than it does in picture 2.

    I wonder what happened.

I would roll this car all night long! No, I am NOT joking. I am the guy to install the 2 inch white wall tires & use this for bar-hopping. Especially for this price…if only I had the funds! It would also be great for Packer (& obviously Badger) games & my road trips to Arizona! I absolutely LOVE this car!
