Parts Runner Stunner: 1966 Chevrolet C-10

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This 1966 Chevrolet C-10 pickup features amazing original patina paint and supposedly lived its entire life in Texas. Now located in Hudson, Florida, it has been gone through and would make a great cruiser or parts truck. It can be found here on eBay with a current bid of $13,700. There have been a ton of bids on the truck, but the reserve hasn’t been met yet. If you are a fan of original patina trucks like I am, check out the work that has been done already. Even if you don’t get the patina thing, I think you’ll be impressed. Take a look.

The engine is a 283 V8 with a manual transmission. The truck apparently ran well when it was moved from Texas to Florida, but the seller still did a few tweaks to improve on it. The points-style ignition was converted to electronic and the wiring throughout the truck is new. The engine compartment could be cleaned up a bit, but it also looks very functional. My thought is “chrome won’t get you home” so if it runs well and looks dirty, that’s fine with me. How about you?

The interior of this truck looks really comfortable. The seat cover and door panels have been done in “whiskey” material. It looks like leather, but the seller doesn’t mention that it is. Besides the upholstery, the gauges have been fixed and work well. You can see the steering wheel is original. There’s a large-face tach mounted on the column, which probably isn’t necessary, but it could be easily removed if the new owner chooses to.

The suspension has been lowered with a 3/5 front/rear drop using CPP components. The new tires and center caps look awesome. Behind those shiny white walls are new brakes at every corner. Overall, this looks like a really cool truck that is probably a really reliable driver. What do you think?

I wonder if they are trying to boost the sale by insinuating they got the truck from a certain Mr. Rawlings in Texas…..”our good friend Richard”. Also they have a very loose definition of the words “full restored”lol. Nice truck but has room for improvement.

Or maybe sadly trying to boost their own credibility by name dropping? I’m sure that will work on a select few albeit easily swayed buyers.

Nice truck! It definitely needs a paint job but you can still run it the way it is for the time being. I’m not a fan of lowering them although this one isn’t bad. Stock height for me all the way.

Exactly my thoughts, geomechs; this little beauty needs paint. I’ve always liked the mid-’60s Chevys, better looking than the their Ford counterparts in some ways. The fresh paint in the original blue and white will make it a standout with the wide whites and hubcaps. The cab looks great inside, simple but pleasingly original. I’m not a fan of lowered pickups, especially one that retains it’s stock appearance. Other than that and the grungy engine compartment, there’s a lot to like here.

I doubt this went through Gas Chimp Garage. The engine is stock, still has a 3 on the tree. “Our friend Richard” doesn’t like to preserve anything but rust.

I haven’t watched the show in year, but they have always bought and sold cars, oftentimes doing little to no work. They almost always have a couple of cars listed on eBay, none that have appeared as projects on the show.

Really? Nothing new about that. People do it all the time. It’s known as flipping vehicles. You buy low and sell high. Similar to what dealers do with your trade-in.

If only they were to build the desirable 2018 Elantra Value edition. It weighs 2,811 pounds and the engine produces 147 horsepower. Also 42 MPG in return (rated @ 37, but that can beat on a regular basis). Nothing spells performance like 147 hp.

Are you aware of how much of a f$%k-stick you are? Why can’t you just drop it?

Best lines that GM ever put to a truck IMHO, would sure look good repainted to the original colour scheme. Not normally into lowered trucks, but it suits this one – I’d be happy to roll through town in this old girl.

Never can figure out why they put all kinds of money into redoing the vehicle and then not painting it. I may be wrong but I always thought by the word “patina” it meant that the color is gone but primer is showing. This definitely looks like rust to me. I may be wrong. Having a shop like it looks he has you would think he would own a pressure washer by now. That vehicle should be repainted it’s original colors and sold for top dollar. Just my opinion.

Never can figure out WHY? Thats because you don’t get it ,and I can’t figure out, why you can’t ? Car owners started modifing their cars when the car became affordable for the average person. All of sudden almost any one could have a car, so the individuals and the creative people wanted their cars to be different. They had there own ideas, what they want to do with their cars and the statement they wanted to make, other than
just transportation. It has become a very important concept for most people as a way to express individule identity and their ideas or opinions, and thats great! What you have to remember is, it’s not just the car ,it’s freedom, which translates into, eveyone can do it, but there is no right or wrong, it is a statement of the owner, it’s their freedom and art. Just like the way they choose to dress, you may not like it or understand it, but it dosn’t matter, if you don’t like it, do it your way. Thats whats so cool about it, everyone is different!

I had a 64 Chevy truck like that, same color, except mine had the wide rear window. Mine also did not have the “patina” like this one. That was the most popular truck I ever owned and it seemed that I had someone ask if I would sell it every day. If you are wondering why the seller doesn’t have it painted and get rid of the rust you probably haven’t priced a paint job lately.

Sold for $14000.00 on Ebay. Clean up the engine compartment, put a $6000.00 paint job on it, resell it for $28000.00, the new owner won’t even have to touch it. Pick up $8000.00 in 3 weeks. We will see it again on Ebay. That was a decent deal.

Nice interior!! To bad the outside doesn’t match the way the inside looks and I think a 383 stroker should be in order under that giant hood!!!
