Extensively modifying classic domestic vehicles is a huge part of American car culture, especially when it comes to customizing them for added performance and personified looks. This 1952 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup that’s available here on eBay is a great example of that, with the truck combining a modernized frame and drivetrain with classic styling.
This pickup is available in Tampa, Florida with a clean title. The truck originally began its life in South Carolina and saw use as part of a furniture business.
Regarding the exterior, the seller states “this truck is one of a kind and has the look,” and I’d agree with that assessment. The paint is still original, but the frame is much newer – this 3100 uses a frame from an S10, and it also features disc brakes all around. Unfortunately, the advertisement does not specify what kind of suspension this truck uses, but whether it uses air ride or not, the ride height is perfect for a truck like this, especially when combined with the new wheels and tires.
The interior features a handful of modern features too, which include a new air conditioning system, new gauges, a custom bench seat, and more. It’s also not clear whether this Chevrolet comes with the stock steering wheel or a woodgrain aftermarket one, because the advertisement features photos with both, but either wheel looks great inside the truck.
There’s a 350 cu.-in. V8 engine under the hood, which pairs to a 700R4 automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels. The advertisement states that the truck has 1,500 miles on it, which likely reflects the number of miles the drivetrain has traveled after completing the swap.
At the time of publication, bidding is at $22,500 with the reserve not met, but the Buy it Now price is $27,500. What do you think of this modified classic Chevrolet truck?
Very well done but I still prefer stock.
Very well done and love it like it is.
Like to see photos from underneath and more info on the build process.
The great thing about these patina builds is that one can restore the exterior at a future date and it’s done.
I’d drive it as is.
When I saw this listing, I could hardly wait to read Howards comments, and he hasn’t said anything yet. I am betting he will. so I will return later.
I love this truck, but would change the wheels and tires to a more traditional look.
Restomod but usable.
I love this truck, except for the stance, the wheels, the automatic, he steel bed and the ‘paint’. Mmmm, maybe I don’t love it.
I’ve seen the use of the manual stick for an automatic before but I don’t understand how you know what gear you’re in. Count detents or is there a dash indicator?
